We're having it at our house. We have sheetrock on the walls, and the spackler will be done by early next week at the lastest. I have a painter lined up, so we should have paint on the walls (no-VOC, so I don't have to worry about the smell). Carpeting will be iffy. Worst case, we'll just tell the family to leave their shoes on so they don't get splinters..... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

We're heading to my mom's. I'll probably bring cookies from a local (an AMAZING) Italian bakery for dessert.

I can't wait! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Non-election related topic: looking into the near future...

dunno what we're doing. Heard from my MIL that my SIL was going to invite us up to Saratoga but I have to work the day after so not happening. My in-laws aren't going either so maybe breakfast or brunch with them then to my mom's if she is having it. I hope so because my uncle usually comes then & I haven't seen him in a few years and he now has prostrate cancer so I really want to visit with him. I might be able to ask my mom if my in-laws can come over too.

I usually bring flowers. My aunt hosts T-giving and never wants us to bring anything. But this year I might make something...a dessert perhaps.

I think DH, my sister and I will be having 3 Thanksgivings. The three of us are going to DH's Abuela's apartment to see the whole family, we wanted to have a Thanksgiving at home just for us, and a friend invited us over, too.

It looks like we'll be having Thanksgiving all week. Chat Icon

We always go to my families county club - so we don't have to cook or bring anything.

This gringa has learned not to bring a dish, its judged before I ever even unwrap it.

I feel that way about bringing things to my in-laws too & we don't even have the cultural difference & my in-laws aren't even partically great cooks.

I got sent home with my untouched pie once, so I won't make anything ever again.

We are going to my parents' house & I am bringing at least rice balls, maybe artichoke pie or pumpkin bread or a dessert depending on who else is coming.

Anyway... I bring homemade rolls every year, and though this is my first year celebrating w/his family, i'm bringing them this year... He says his mom hates buying rolls ?? SO I am happy! I don't know if we'll bring anything else.

I'm going to my cousin's house. We usually go there every year, but last year we went to my brother's house in MD instead.

I usually bring the pigs in a blanket. Chat Icon I'll also be bringing this really nice dessert wine we have because my cousin's DH is also really into wine. I may also make a dessert to bring. I have to discuss it with my cousin so we're all on the same page.

Re: Non-election related topic: looking into the near future...

I have no idea yet.

we are trying to see if our den will be finished (carpet in and sofa delivered) before we decide if we will host it in our new home or not.

I WANT to so badly, but my husband makes a point...we can't invite people over if we don't have a couch to sit them on...we'll know in the next two weeks I suppose. Chat Icon

if not, we may just have thanksgiving in our house with us and my MIL...or do something at home in Brooklyn.

good luck to everyone and their plans! Chat Icon

Re: Non-election related topic: looking into the near future...

We go every year to my parent's house--simply because DH's family is utterly useless and never makes a big deal out of the holiday. This year I'll be making some mashed potatoes and maybe some mac & cheese. I LOVE TURKEY DAY!!!
