Thanks everyone for your support. There was no growth from last week. We're devastated. It seems like a cruel joke. Now we're just trying to figure out if we should have the d&c or just let it happen naturally...any input would be appreciated. Hopefully I'll be back here soon enough. Best of luck to you all for happy and healthy pregnanciesChat Icon

I don't have any input as far as the D&C as I've never had to make that decision.

Good luck! I know you'll be back here really soon! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm so so so sorry. It's never easy. There are pros & cons to both sides, I mc'ed naturally before I even got in to see the doctor last year, so I can't speak to the D&C.

I'm sure you'll be back here soon!

I am so sorry for your loss Chat Icon

I opted for a D&C for my losses. If I miscarried naturally I may not pass all of the tissue and have to have a D&C anyway, timing - I didn't want to be at work/in the city when it happened and just for my mental health-I knew it was over and wanted to begin the healing process physically and mentally.

So sorry.

I'm leaning toward that too. If its over...I just want it to be over. I seriously don't know if I can deal with miscarrying naturally anyway. Idk what I'd even do with it....Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: No heartbeat

I scheduled a D&C because at the time it was my second loss and we wanted to do testing on the baby. I was also glad to have it over quickly. But, I ended up passing everything naturally at pre-surgical testing. That was stressful for me because I still wanted the testing (and did manage to save everything and sit in the ER for 4 hours so they would take it from me) but the actual physical experience wasn't bad, and I did pass everything. I was about 7 weeks. It's really up to you. Based on my experience I woudl say schedule the D&C but give yourself a chance for it to happen naturally, but there really is no wrong choice. Re: No heartbeat

So sorry for your loss.

Just this past November I had a blighted ovum. We found out at 8 weeks that there was a sac and nothing else. I went back a couple of days later and still nothing. I decided to do it naturally. Because I did it naturally I had many appts for sonos to monitor me so it was a long process. I finally started to pass everything at 11 weeks. I bleed for a couple of weeks after that and had sonos to make sure everything passed. It was a very long and emotional process. I wanted to do it on my own but it is not for everyone. I was so relieved when it was finally over and I could finally move on and heal. Do what you feel is best for you. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am so sorry for your loss.
I found out I had miscarried on a Wednesday and had a natural mc that Friday. So, in my case, I guess I would've mc'd even before the d&c could be scheduled anyway. If I could've chosen, I would've had the d&c, just because you never know when the natural one will happen.
Once again, I'm so sorry!!!

Re: No heartbeat

So sorry for your loss. There is nothing worse. I remember those feelings all too well. I found out I had a miscarriage on a Tuesday and scheduled a D&C for Friday. I didn't want it to happen naturally as I was afraid it would happen when I was at work. I personally, wouldn't have been able to handle that. I had to push to get the closest D&C appointment available so if you feel you want to go that route, definitely ask your dr. to schedule asap. Not sure if this helps at all but as soon as we were able to try again, I got pregnant right away. Then two years later, again and now 3 years later, I am pregnant with my third. My thoughts and prayers are with you to stay strong and reach a place of peacefulness real soon.

Re: No heartbeat

I am so sorry. When I had my missed mc I was almsot 10 weeks. But growth stopped around 8. I had a d and c because I wanted testing plus the idea of waiting..or not passing everything then having to hjave a d and c anyways was just to painful to deal with. I would ask your doctor what he recommends based on how far the pregnancy was. Big hugs

I think I would let it happen naturally. I'm not big on getting any procedures though. I've heard there are some risks to fertility from D&C - probably rare, but something to think about.
