DS really likes the fisher price kick n play piano mat. There are dangling toys and a piano that plays music when he kicks it.

Mommy and daddy! In the first few weeks, they don't need much. Closer to a month we started with the playmat and DD was in love! Soft rattles, mirrors, the 123 go snail, crinkly books, the oball rattle were other early favorites.

Re: newborn toys

"Lamaze" makes these toys... I don't know WHY (lol) but my son, and every baby I have ever bought them for since my son, LOVES their line of animals. They have "Mortimer the Moose" and "Captain Calamari" and "Jacques the Peacock" LOL.

Here is a pic of Jacques on BBB's site...

The great thing is they come with a round piece at the top so you can hang them on ANYTHING - you can hang them in the car on the back of the headrest, you can hang them in their crib, you can hang them on any sensory mat or play mat, we actually hung a few from our ceiling fan and Julian would lay on our bed with us and stare at them and reach for them and kick and giggle. For the first probably four months of life that was his favorite thing to do LOL.

He is eleven months now and still reaches for Captain Calamari and squeaks Mortimer the Moose! We even hung them on his exersaucer.

Yeah, best thing ever Chat Icon

Of course, he teethed on them too.

ETA - I almost forgot about "Freddie the Firefly" Chat Icon

newborn toys

In the beginning, he had no interest in toys. Around one month, he started to enjoy his activity mat with mobile and mirror. At around 3.5 months, he started grasping rattles and the oball.

Same with my son but he didn't really start to play with it until almost 2 months.
