toys for a newborn
Can you recommend your newborn "toys"? DD is one month today and I want to get her some toys we can play with together. She loves her light-up mobile above her swing. What good stuff are you ladies using??

I don't really have "toys" for DD other than her rattles and Sophie the Giraffe. She has her gym mat which lights up, plays music, and has toys that hang down, her rocker that vibrates, and her swing which has a mobile. At that age they are just doing looking, not grabbing.
I prefer reading to her, singing to her, etc. Plus I use a mirror during tummy time, though I don't know if she is really looking at it

Ditto for the above. I DO have this Leapfrog Catepillar thing which both of my children have loved at a very young age. It sings little songs with counting and plays classical music. Its big and soft, I usually just lay it next to DD and press all the different buttons and she smiles and listens.

Re: toys for a newborn
I could not get DS interested in crib mobiles, can you recommend yours?
But he loves the Tiny Love Clip and Go Mobile.
At 1 month we just talked and sang a lot. I don't know any songs, so I would turn on the music on the swing and make up words for it. I'd carry him around the house and talk about everything in it.
One of the first real toys we had was the Tiny Love Double-Sided First Book
I don't remember when he started to really get excited by it, but I would say by the end of month 1 about.

The musical glow worm and FP singing dog are what I used when she was a little baby.

I have the peacock version for DS, very similar, he just started appreciating at 3 months, since he can now grab and touch things.

I did not believe this toy would do anything for DS he likes bright colors and things that are really noisy. He just looks at her and smiles. I couldn't believe it!

his einstein underwater aquarium playmate, his surfboard tummy time mat, lamaze toys.
at 4 weeks, he loves to stare at anything with bold patterns. He could look at the same thing for an hour

She chews on the head already But that's only when DS doesn't steal it from her to make it squeak!

DS loved that too!! We also had a spider version that he liked.
Mallory the Monkey was a big hit too. He still carries it to this day.
