Newbie here!

Hi!!
After a year and a half of TTC and then finally going thru with IVF, we just found out this past Wed from my RE that I am pregnant with our 1st DC!! According to the online due dates, it looks like, based on my egg retrieval date, that I'm due 11/15. DH and I are truly just over the moon! I really wanted to keep the announcement a secret until the first trimester was over, but with going thru IVF, it was hard for most people not to know. Anyway, I'm looking forward to talking to all of you and learning a lot!

I actually already have my first question....was anyone else super anxious in the beginning? Every cramp, twinge, etc, I feel on edge thinking that maybe something is wrong. I'm even a little nervous with the beta - my first beta was 84 and my 2nd was 164. I know that's good, but I keep thinking the # is supposed to double - and it was 4 short of doubling. What's even more crazy is I am not at all an anxious person. I guess, just because everything we went thru to get to this point I'm so scared something will go wrong. Please tell me I'm not losing my mind and this is normal!

Re: Newbie here!

welcome!!

i also got my BFP via IVF after 18 months, PCOS, two chemicals, and a few other issues. im now 24 weeks pregnant.
i was def nervous through the first tri but it does get better after that. i wont say the nervousness goes away, it just changes. and im totally not a nervous person to begin with!! i feel like until we have our Chat Icon in our arms, i will at least be somewhat nervous. and then once he/she is here im sure i'll be nervous about a whole new group of things!!

anyway i know its hard but just focus on the fact that you got this far and be positive!! and also remember that you'll prob see your RE for a while and be closely monitored, which i found helped the anxiousness at the beginning.

welcome again and good luck!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Newbie here!

Congrats on graduating!!!!! I love hearing these stories.

I'm a normally worrisome person on a good day. I keep having 'bad thoughts' about miscarrying. At least twice a day. I try to stop myself and just imagine the complete opposite. I've heard others say that once you become a parent you never stop worrying. I didn't comprehend that parenthood started at conception until it happened to me.

Congratulations! The way I figure it, moms worry about their kids 24/7 for their whole lives... you're just starting while yours is still in the womb! I do the same thing. I actually got myself a fetal doppler which lets me hear my baby's heartbeat. I use it every night before I go to bed, so I know everything's okay. It's a little extreme but it makes me feel better! (They start detecting hb at about 10-11 weeks so you have a while to go before you can indulge in this neurosis, if you're so inclined Chat Icon).

(oh and btw, I was seeing an RE too and got my beta done at 13 dpo. They told me that two days later, they were looking to see it get two-thirds higher, like if the first was 100, they want the second to be 166 or higher. "Doubling" is just rounded up a little and quicker and easier to say. So your numbers sound great!)

I think it's very normal to be a little nervous. Hopefully those feelings of nervousness will subside with time and you can enjoy your first pregnancy Chat Icon

Re: Newbie here!

Hello!

Congratulations!!!!

Yes... those feelings of anxiety are definitely common, especially among those of us who have had any sort of issues in the past.... be it MC, Chemical's, IF, etc.

I had a mc and so that made me super nervous at times... and to be honest it still does. I'm 24 weeks now... and I can't lie... I still get nervous. But once you get to the point where you can feel the LO move... it gets easier. I also bought the heartsounds doppler to put my mind at ease. I don't use it daily... but I def have used it a few times.... esp when I'm feeling extra anxious about things.

My first beta was 62 and then went to 154 or something. It could also be the time of day you tested for each beta... they rise a few every couple of hours. I had a 3rd and maybe a 4th beta as well (I can't remember anymore)... so you can have more if that will help you.

Good Luck and congratulations again!!!
