new moms support group
hi girls, a friend of mine thinks she has PPD. She is going to her ob soon. I had horrible PPD and the BF ing support groups I went to was so good for me. She is formula feeding. Is there anything out there for her?

I know my library has a support group for new moms and one for moms in general. Check at her library if you can.

I can't attest to this group myself, but a friend I have on FB recently "liked" them and it seems they have a lot of programs including a New Mothers Group, which might be a good place for your friend to start. I'm not sure where she is located, but this is Smithtown I believe.

Hospitals sometimes have these groups. She could try calling where she gave birth

I was JUST going to recommend this. If she is near them, this is in Smithtown and I had joined their new moms groups after my first DC was born and it was the BEST THING I EVER DID. A) it got me out of the house, B) I got to talk with a bunch of women going through the same thing, C) the director Mary Kahr, is the SWEETEST MOST HELPFUL, KNOWLEDGABLE WOMANm D) I made some REALLY good friends who I still get together with to this day.

I looked for a therapist that focused on ppd - they sometimes have different support services as well.
Good luck to her and what a great supportive friend you are.

I did the new moms group and loved it! Also I think there are PPD support groups through the hospitals. She should also ask her OB about those. But definitely CFA was great!

My library has a moms of infants discussion group once a month.
