need snack ideas for daycare- can't be refrigerated

Now that DS is in the 3's class, they are requesting that we pack snacks separate from lunch, individual portions in a gallon size ziploc bag. They will send the bag home when empty, but it should last the week and that is for AM & PM snack. I have been buying goldfish, annie's bunny grahams, ritz crackers, pirate's booty, & teddy grahams and separating them into snack size portions. The thing is, while I certainly allow my children to have treats, I feel like limiting me to items that can't be refrigerated means that he is never getting healthy snacks. When he was in the toddler room last year, I would pack extra fruit or a cheese stick or yogurt for his snack. I guess I would just rather limit his processed snacks. I am not going to argue with the daycare, but I am wondering if anyone has any other suggestions? I know nothing will be "fresh", but maybe there is something out there way better than goldfish & ritz crackers, that I am missing. TIA! Chat Icon

Our nursery school doesn't refrigerate snacks either. My son loves the following from Trader Joe's that I've been sending in with him: Multiseed Rice Crackers with Soy Sauce, Organic Mini Cheese Sandwich Crackers, Inner Peas, Cheddar Rocket Crackers. Also, Ella's Kitchen Nibbly Fingers.

How about a few containers of the motts natural applesauce?

Freeze dried fruit (trader joes)

Trader joes inner peas (sort of like veggie straws)

Small boxes raisins (if they allow)

Make your own trail mix (cereal, yogurt-covered dried fruit or yogurt baby puffs, etc)

Dried fruit
cereal
granola bars
peanut butter crackers

Would they allow fresh fruit that doesn't need to be refrigerated? Maybe see if you can throw in a few bananas or apples that he can eat at the beginning of the week.

dried fruit
cucumbers and carrots dont really need refrigeration for the day.
can it be a banana (and they peel it when its time to eat?- they have mini bananas that would probably fit in a ziploc)
grapes can sit out too.
crackers
pretzels
rice cakes
peanut butter sandwich cut up
homemade cookies or muffins (they can be ones made with fruit fresh and dried or veggies like zucchini bread)
fruit snacks
applesauce cups
dole fruit cup (like mandarin oranges or pineapple)
veggie straws

Thanks for the suggestions! DS loves those applesauce pouches, he also likes organic fruit snacks. I will add those into the mix. Cereal is another good idea, he could eat his weight in cheerios & puffins. I am making a TJ's run this weekend, I am going to try some of these suggestions, thank you!

I have seen single serve hummus cups recently. Also cereal pouches are great, as is squeeze applesauce.

My DDs preK supplies snack/water/juice/milk, but I send her in everyday with something from home. I don't want her having cracker/pretzels everyday. I'd rather her eat fruits, veggies, cheese, yogurt, homemade muffins etc... I am the only parent that sends something in, but it hasn't been a problem at all. Maybe you can start sending in a daily snack instead of a months worth of daily snacks.
