Need ideas for a doll for a 4.5 year old

ok...I am at a loss.
I would love to get her an American Girl...but I'm not for 2 reasons
- I don't think she is ready for it
- the price Chat Icon

I looked at the dolls that Target has (I think they were called Generation Dolls)...anyone have any reviews on them?

I am not sure if I want to get her another 'baby' doll...cause she has a couple (but they are all a mess Chat Icon )
But with the baby coming in a few months...it might be a good idea to get her another one....ugh!!

I was kind of looking for one that she might be able to dress and thau kind of stuff.

And does anyone have any idea of other dolls? Chat Icon

Thanks!!! Chat Icon

My DD has one of the Target ones. It seems sturdy, but she doesn't really play with it. Mainly she changes the outfits and play with the hair. American Girl stuff does fit it.

I think the Target ones are pretty good, it is a great prelude to American Girl Dolls.

If you want to go the American Girl route - why don't you get her the Bitty Baby? It's cheaper than the bigger dolls.

DD likes the Baby Alive doll. I have the one that talks and you can feed her and she goes potty. Lately, she has really taken to her Baby Alive doll.

I agree. Also Walmart has their own line of dolls that are adorable and the clothes are soooo reasonable.

If you don't want to go for the American Girl doll I would go for the Target doll.
We did get DD an American Girl doll for her 5th birthday. She does really love it and loved reading the chapter book it came with. We read a little each night.
She doesn't quite take as good care of it as I would like but in her mind she tries and I give her lots of reminders (some more harsh than others).

Thanks Everyone Chat Icon

She told me this morning that she is going to ask Santa for a 'baby' doll...not a 'big girl' doll Chat Icon
