Need Help with Window Treatment (w/poll)
I have gone through multiple window treatments for the kitchen window. I haven't found anything I like yet. So I think I have to have a custom box pleated valance made for the window. Which one do you like best for the room/window? I love both, but I'm just not sure. What do you think?
They both go with the other slate blues I have in the Kitchen, DR & LR. They look nicer in person. I found these on www.blinds.com.
#1 (100% silk)
#2 (69% Viscose, 31% Polyester)

I like the pattern one.
I love it actually.
We have tiers on our kitchen window - are you against tiers? Because Curtain Store in Massapequa has a lot and they have a 20% off sale going on right now. I think I paid around $40 for our curtains.

Re: Need Help with Window Treatment (w/poll)
I do love Roman Shades, but wasn't looking to spend that kind of money right now, but this custom valance would cost me a little less then a Roman Shade would. Oh decisions.
Jenn627 - I'm not a tier curtain girl. but thanks for the heads up at the curtain store.
Right now we have the valance that we have up with a regular roll up shade underneath for privacy. I'm just not sure about the roman shade though. I have cellular shades in the LR windows with panel curtains, I have panels that go across the DR slider and then to have a Roman Shade in the kitchen.....I'm just not sure about that. It's a Great Room basically, so it's completely open to each other. I'm thinking the valance because it matches with other things in the whole entire Great Room.

IMHO, I love the pattern one, but I dont know if it will go well. I think it might be too light for your kitchen. If you had the pattern one in that blue color, I think it would look really nice! If I had to choose between the two, I would go with the blue.

jenn you can't use silk on that window, it will literally fall apart, like into dust within a year. your sky light shines down on it. Sunlight deterotes (sp?) silk. thats why you usually have to line silk window treatments and then they can't really be used in direct sunlight at all I'm sorry, I love the pattern one the best too!
at least based on the picture I looked at below:

YES! That's so true. Happened to my mother's clothes (she has a window in her closet)...
I know I keep harping on the curtain store - but they carry valances there too. I paid $17 for one for our bathroom.

Good eye Heather. I completly forgot about that with silk. OK, then it's the pattern one. It looks more blue in real life for the background. It's a light slate blue/gray background and the leaf pattern is a tan and it matches the panels for the sliding door in the DR.
Thanks everyone!

your poor mom's clothes.
Jenn, you are so right, I'm going to check out the curtain store first before I order this one, because this one is expensive.

If you've never been to the Curtain Store - when you walk in - you can go right to enter their bath section - on the wall where the entrance to the bath section is - there is a whole bunch of valances hanging up...

Oh, I've been there before. You can spend a lot in that store, but when they have sales it's good. Thanks for letting me know where the valances are though.
