Need advice with napping issues

Adriano has been an amazing sleeper all his life. He took 3 naps before 9 months, Went to 2 naps until 13 months and then transitioned to 1 nap after that. I've never had an issue with him sleeping during the day OR at night.
He is a dream come true. OK fast forawrd to 2 weeks ago, I start to teach summer school and he goes back to his baby sitter. The first week with her was a nightmare. Slept only 1 hr 4 days and 1 day he slept an 1 1/2 (according to her) Prior to that he would take an average of 1 1/2 up to a 3 hour nap. This week, he has basically REFUSED to nap for her or napped for 45 minutes to 1 hr on 1 day. He's not sick. I am completely baffled by this behavior. What the hell could possibly be going on ALL OF A SUDDEN????
He is still going to bed fairly early every night. Today he was OUT by 6:20pm
I'm really confused, I'm used to such a wonderful napper. Has anyone gone through a phase like this. Is there an explanation. Your input is greatly appreciated ladies! Thanks!

Re: Need advice with napping issues

My DD is close in age to your DS. She barely naps, not everyday at this point. I guess too much going on to sleep. So maybe it's normal?

Maybe it was the change in environment? It could just be a phase. My DC have times when they take really crappy naps, but then go back to normal.
What time is he waking up in the morning?

Re: Need advice with napping issues

maybe it's just a little transition? hopefully after a few days the missed naps will catch up with him and he will start napping again. How is the weekend going?

Re: Need advice with napping issues

DD has been doing the same thing!!! She will be 2 next week. Today she slept about an hour and was a mess the whole day! And we had her birthday party today!!! she was out cold by 630..hopefully she is not up for the day at 4am lol.

I think they just go through phases, and with your DS it sounds like an adjustment issue. Is this the same babysitter he has been going to?

Yeah same babysitter. It's true they go through phases, I guess I got too used to his ways and now all of a sudden the change surprised me...
I'm going to read Dr. Weissbluth's section on toddler sleep see if that sheds any light on this....
