Need Advice -- the Endless Cold

So I've had a bad cold for four weeks. One week in when it was a sore throat, cough and congestion, I called my doc and they said I couldn't take/do anything except the plain kind of Robitussin. Then I saw the doc two weeks ago and was feeling better.

Well, now the cold is back. No sore throat, but I have a terrible, barking/wheezing cough that keeps me and my husband up at night and is gaining the attention of my coworkers (i.e., people can hear me all the way down the hall). I'm also going through a box of tissues every other day.

I'm not sure what I should be doing at this point. Just continue to ride it out? Call my doctor again? It's annoying to be sick, sure, but it's not like I'm in terrible pain. I'm more concerned about this developing into something else because I just let it linger so long.

Sorry about the length of this post -- just trying to figure out what to do!

Which doctor are you consulting, your primary care physician or your OB?

Early in my pregnancy I got an ear infection that was misdiagnosed as rhinitis. Each doc referred me to the other. After 2 weeks of pain I finally saw a specialist and found out it was swimmer's ear. I was given antibiotics and felt better within a couple of days.

I dont think you should have to deal with a 4 week cold. My advice would be to call your doctors and insist they check you out before it leads to something worse.

go to your primary doc...there are medicines that are ok to take when you are pregnant, you dont have to tough it out!
