I need advice on baby's cold / virus

My son is 10 months
He has been to the dr. 5 times in the last month; for his 9 month visit, flu shot and because he had a cold

He had a very bad runny nose that was green mucus; dr. said nothing can be done for it; his ears and lungs were clear

he went back about 3 weeks later for the same thing; this was last week; Monday Oct. 19
Now, he has a pretty bad cough; mostly at night

Is there really NOTHING the dr. can give for this??
It is breaking my heart to hear him coughing in his sleep

Unfortunately there isnt. DS gets the WORST coughs that go on for weeks after he gets a cold.

We used the warm mist humidifier, even though everyone says cool mist. We just keep it WAY out of reach so he cant burn himself on it.

We have the vicks humidifier. You pour some of the vicks liquid for it in with the water and it comes out with the steam. Works like a charm!

Nothing in terms of medication can be done for a cold. Have you tried using a cool mist humidifier?
A cough always lasts a lot longer than the rest of the cold. I hope he feels better soon.

we have the humidifier on every night
i put the baby vicks on his chest and on h is feet (someone told me this was good for a cough??)
we also have a sep. heater in his room to "dry him up" since his nose is so runny

its a cool mist
we elevated the mattress but he moves around so much in his sleep that it doesnt even make a difference

DH was like "dont leave there without a prescription" but i told him unless its an infection they wont give anything; dont get me wrong, im grateful that its just a cold and no fever
he is happy and eating but it breaks my heart to hear him coughing all night
