nice to have her there to help with feedings etc but as far as sitting there all night, uh no - that's YOUR child not hers, have your DH put a stop to it.

I'm confused here, is she staying up at night to help you with the baby, or staying up all night to watch her sleep and make sure she's ok?

If she's just watching her sleep then it is CREEPY and you need to put a stop to it.

not sure - but i think to make sure shes ok and breathin. and so dh & i can get our sleep. it doesnt mnake a diff bc i feel empty w.out her in my room and i wake up in the middle of the night anyway
ya know???

If you feel she should be there, then put her in your room. YOU are the mother. If your MIL has a problem with it, too bad.
Maybe she can stay up with the baby a couple of times a week so you can get some sleep, but if this is something you are not comfortable with, you need to stop it NOW.

ETA: This is not something I would allow. I wouldn't even let my own mother do this, let alone DH's.

ITA!
Definitely get her in your room - you are obviously bothered by it and I would bet that you will regret it in the end if you let it continue.

Please take your child back, now.

There is no reason for your MIL to sit vigil over you child. It's a bit stange.

ITA!!! there is no need for anyone to sit vigil. the baby is not going to jump out of the bassinet or crib. they can't even roll over. i think she's encroaching on YOUR time with Your baby. granted, not that you should be sitting vigil either, but it just seems unhealthy and strange to me the amount of time she wants/needs to be with the baby. i think that if she's this neurotic now, what will she be like when the baby is older and more verbal... also, she connived her way into staying with you for 2 months? that's not normal either... the time you will have with your newborn you will NEVER gt back and i think she is taking way too much of it away from you.

Mommy to be crashing!

Gabbie-do our MILs know each other? What she is doing borders on creepy. Women like our MILs don't do things like this to help us, but to CONTROL us.

ITA agree with all of the PP who say you are the mother of DD, you decide where she sleeps.

If MIL was coming a few times a week, then yes, she would be trying to help. This is seriously about control and if you don't tell her to back up now, she will do this forever.

Talk to DH and tell him that this is bothering you! Chat Icon

did ii mention that my mom was supposed to help me out in the beginning and instead MIL is ;(
im so frustrated ladies, its not even funny.

my mother isnt the psycho. my father is.... when talking about gthe deivery of baby #2 i commented that dh wont be able to sit at the hosp with me all day because of ds... my father was like "well you arent going to sit in the hospital alone"... i promptly turned to him and said "well you aren't going to be sitting there with me".... they also decided that because my dh works nights that they are going to sleep at my house for the last month of my pregnancy incase i go into labor.. they live 3 miles away.... not 300 miles away....
