NBR-Loving my new camera

I received my camera in the mail today and so far I'm loving it! I have never taken such clear pictures in my life

I'm not a pro by any means and just wanted a camera that takes really good pics for when the baby comes. I was going to go the SLR route, but figured I'd start with an advanced point and shoot bc an SLR is not really in the budget right now. I decided on the Canon SX10 IS. It is a very advanced for a point and shoot, 10 MP and 20X zoom, lots of setting options. Many of the reviews and photographers say it is the next step before switching to an SLR (and preparing you for one)! Anyway, just thought I'd share bc I'm sure some of you want to get a good camera before the baby comesChat Icon

Re: NBR-Loving my new camera

Those pics look great! How is the camera to maneuver? Is it easy to handle. Is it heavy?

Thanks

Re: NBR-Loving my new camera

Thanks for posting this b/c I couldn't help but cringe when looking at the price for the Nikon D60 (the one I want) but this looks just as great, I've just read some reviews and others love it too....so maybe we'll head in this direction.

Re: NBR-Loving my new camera

Thank you so much for posting this review...we're actually shopping for DSLR's right now, but debating on whether they're worth the money, being that we're novices so will we really get the full range of use out of it?

Do you know what ISO that camera is?

Very easy to handle and manuver. Awesome grip on the side. The LCD screen flips in all directions so if you need to point and shoot in an akward position you can still turn the screen so you could always see what you are shooting clearly. I think the camera weighs 1.5 pounds. I was expecting it to be heavier, but def not bad. I could totally take it out for the day and have it around my neck or in the case when not in useChat Icon

The ISO is usually in auto or high auto mode when shooting , which gives you the optimal results when it comes to light level and speed, but it could be custom set at different levels. It could be set from 80-1600 and it even has something called ISO 3200 that is suppose to increase shutter speed and minimize blurring of moving subjects.
To be honest-I haven't played around with this option yet! I still have a lot to learn with this camera!!!

Re: NBR-Loving my new camera

For anyone that is interested in this camera, I bought it from Amazon (after looking all over and even going to best buy!) It was listed at 354 on amazon and I had it in my cart for two days. THen they notified me and it went down to $306Chat Icon Chat Icon
So that's the price I got it for. Then next day it jumped back up...but I wouldn't be surprised if it goes down again. Also, my dad said that sometimes when you keep things in you cart they mysteriously come down in price..lol! I also got a 8gb memory card for $19 from Amazon.

Just thought I'd shareChat Icon
