Nanny gift - is this enough
My new nanny has been with about a month. She has requested the the week of Christmas into New Year off, so that about a week and half. We will be paying her for that week. In addition to that, I was going to get a her a gift card and maybe bakeware since she loves to bake.
Does that sound like an ok gift? Everywhere I read its like give one week's pay as a bonus.. I don't have that kind of money right now..

I think since she is new to your family that giving her the time requested off paid and the GC with bakeware is plenty.
If she is with you next year, then I would consider giving her the week's pay.

You don't need to get her anything IMO. That is a lot of time off for her to request after being with you for a month and to get paid for it is a gift enough to me.
My nanny has been with us for over a year and she is getting no time off and I am only giving her one weeks pay.

I didn't want to commit a faux pas! The time off is a bit much, but it is what it is... DH and I were debating how to handle this.
Thanks guys!

The paid time off and the bakeware I think is enough. Especially since she is new. Does that week count as her vacation week?

I would think so, because when she was hired, she told me she could work that week. I mean it is the end of the year so its not like she carry over days or anything like that. She will be working for us for about 6 weeks come the holidays, minus the week and half.

I was a nanny and wouldn't expect anytihing more then that time off, and not even paid! She is lucky! Most places make you wait a certain amount of days before you get PTO. I would do the 1.5 wks off and maybe something small from the kids. Like some socks, a small pedicure kit, and nail polish or something like that. You don't need to do the gc and bakeware.
