I honestly think the Marisa would be pronounced Mareeeeeeeesa, the say you are saying you don't want it. The missing S makes the I strong.

I agree. When you said marisa tomei, I remembered it can be pronounced like marissa, but I think your DD will go through life having to spell and pronounce her name alot. I love the name!!

Marissa!Especially for the way you want it pronounced.
If you spell it with one S, it's pronounced Ma-rees-a.
My best friend's name is Marissa, and I love it!

Just for the record - Marisa w/ one S is not absolutely pronounced Mareesa ........It CAN be, and I see why soemone WOULD think that .........but my name is w/ one S - and my name is Mar IS a ...not Mar EE sa .........
And I only ran into one issue, my 3rd grad teacher .........

My cousin is Marissa. We called her Missy I'm not sure she liked that though.
All of the Marissas I have known have been 2 s
I think a Spanish/Italian pronunciation of Marisa would be Mar ee sa, but I would think Mar is a if I saw it.
But what I always knew growing up with a double consonant in my last name (which people always mispronounced) was that the vowel before is a short vowel sound. which applies to Marissa
