Mysterious headache/fever? Scary week
I had the worst headache/migraine on Thursday starting around 12pm. Nothing I did help to soothe it. It was the most throbbing, uncomfortable pain ever. On Friday, I called my dr and they immediately made me an appt.. I went in, they took my temp which was 103 and told me I was immediately going to the hospital. I arrive at the hospital, they check the baby...everything is A ok. They start talking to me about meningitis and telling me I may need a spinal tap, but they will wait till my blood results return. No infections were found...my headache was much much better, I passed all their other tests and they told me they were comfortable sending me home, and they didn't think I had meningitis. Went home with no explanation really, just that it might be a virus.
Earlier this week, I was experiencing contractions due to possible dehydration and the worst swelling in my stomach. No position was comfortable. I had a low temp then, and went home being told that I may have stomach bug or something I ate bothered me. I struggled very hard to make myself comfortable due to the pain in my stomach. This week has been sooooo nerve wrecking!!
Super relieved that the baby is ok, but this fever is worrying me. Last night, it went up again to 101.7 which I brought down with tylenol. Headache comes and goes with pressure...... Has anyone ever experienced anything similar? Thoughts?

I would ask them to test you for pre-eclampsia with a 24 hour urine test. Good luck! Stay on your left side, watch your salt intake, and drink plenty of water.

My son had coxsackie earlier this year and I showed elevated antibodies for it and had to see a high risk dr but was cleared. We are still monitoring the baby with frequent sonos though.
I suspected preeclampsia too after reading up on it, but after having blood and urine work done thoroughly twice in one week... and no elevated blood pressure or swelling, I guess the doctors ruled that out and didn't mention it. I have a followup at my obyn on Monday so I'm just going to ask them their opinion. I just pray that this is the end of this mini nightmare and its smooth sailing till its time for this baby girl to make her grand appearance! Thanks for your input ladies

Re: Mysterious headache/fever? Scary week
Sounds like a headache I had while I had the flu a few years ago.
In the hospital, they ran all sorts of tests (incl. MRI's and CAT scans) and also suggested a spinal tap too which scared the crap out of me. One doc looked at me, walked away, came back with this gigantic metallic thing (almost looked like a calk gun), put it to my ear and sprayed a hard jet of water into my ears. I kid you not, 2 seconds later my headache went away.
As silly and simple as it may sound, maybe you have a really bad ear infection?

Headache cured with a jet of water? Wow...wish it was that simple. No, they checked my ears and no infection =/ Seems like it was just a really bad mysterious virus. I'm finally feeling a lot better today. Hope thats the end of that!
