My "little" paver patio project

Started this last year, and I'm finally (pretty much) finished. It's about 35'x18'. Roughly 2500 blocks Chat Icon

The kids love the firepit, and we've had several fires in it already. We've also had smores and hot dogs on the fire.

I have a couple more pics in my album.

Re: My "little" paver patio project

Very cool! How are you going to end it on the edges?

I'm still not totally sure. I'm thinking for the short term to just use dirt to fill it in to the same height as the blocks, so they won't go anywhere, then work on a few different ideas and see what works. I do have masonry blades to cut stone (I cut half of the cap blocks around the fire pit to make them fit that particular radius), so I can definitely smooth the edges, and not have it blocky like a 16bit video game.... Re: My "little" paver patio project

Wow impressive! Please tell me how you did the firepit...my DH is obsessed with making one and the way he saw online was to get a drum inside the pit which he can't find anywhere unless we buy a cheap fire pit and use that one...did you use a drum?

The pit is just retaining wall blocks in a circle. I put about two inches of dirt on the bottom of the pit. I didn't bother with a metal insert.
In the 5th pic, the one before DC, you can see the start of the firepit.

I have the same blocks for the retaining walls in the front yard, so it ties the front and back together nicely. I'm also using the grey patio blocks on the sidewalk along the front of the house.

I involved DC in almost all my projects. I even had DC move some of the pavers from the front yard to the back using their wagon. Chat Icon Chat Icon
