i am glad you got your little metal children back. i loss or lock my keys in the car all the time. 
they are my prisoners... without them, I am nothing..
and... WHY OH WHY DON'T I GIVE MY NEIGHBORS A COOPY OF MY APT KEY FOR THE AMOUNT OF TIMES I FORGOT THEM SOMEWHERE AND HAD TO CLIMB INTO MY APT THROUGH MY FIRE ESCAPE???????

Ok, this is like my fear of the locked can for the stuff that is to go to the paper shredding company at work. I take my papers to it on the way out and my keys are in the same hand. I do it all the time but I always fear dropping the keys. I also fear throwing an important paper in there by accident, or losing my wedding rings. Now, I know I can just call the shredding company just as you contacted Ray the Porter, but isn't it all nervewracking? I think it would actually calm me a little if my keys did talk.

That is the worst sound hearing your keys drop down the elevator.  At least your porter was quick. I had to wait until the next day to get my keys. Thank goodness the hubby had his keys on him.

one of them leaped out of my pocket last night on my return from the supermarket...
thankfully one of my neighbors spotted it and came to my apt.
