my heart is broken
My dad was rushed to the hospital with stomach pains on thursday. He called an ambulance for himself, which, if anyone knows my dad, is a big deal. He hates drs and hospitals. He was in that much pain. They did a cat scan and saw he had a perforated bowel. He was rushed into surgery. The dr said it must have been like this for a day or 2 or longer. Alot of fecal matter/ bacteria leaked into his abdomen. His dr said there is a 20% chance of survival. He has been in an induced coma since. They say for what he has been through, he is getting better. If he pulls through, it will be a long road to full recovery. My heart is literally broken. I am not ready to lose my daddy. He is the world to me. My m is broken up but is dealing with it by working a lot. My parents on a deli, so thats her excuse. I sit by his bed side and feel so sad. I miss his voice, his touch, his everything. He looks like a zombie. I am sad for how he will feel when he awakes. I pray he gets to spend more time with my ds who adores him as well as my neice and nephew. I pray he will meet mu umborn child.
Please tell me how you coped with this. I feel so lost and empty.

I can't imagine what you must be going through and I don't have any advice as to how to cope, but I'm praying your dad gets through this and this all becomes a horrible memory. Try to stay strong for him

I really hope your dad starts to improve and gets better quickly.
My dad survived the same thing when I was only 5 years old. My mom was told by the drs he probably wouldn't make it and told my mom to start getting things in order. He was in grave condition for over a week, also in a coma and than slowly he started to improve. His recovery was long and hard. He lost a lot of weight and was out of work for over 3 months but he is fine now and lives a very normal life.
So don't give up hope. Try to stay positive and focus on the fact that he is improving. Once he wakes up it will be difficult but he has survived the worst part so know he is strong and will be ok. Many for you and your family.

i'm so sorry your dad is this sick, right now. i know a little of what you're going through. this past september, i was sitting in the hospital not knowing what was going on with my mom's health.
all i can say is to spend as much time as you can by his side.
i'll be praying, as well, that your father comes through this and that this will all just become a bad memory.
please keep us posted on how he's doing

I don't know much about his condition...but I DO know that my uncle was near death last year - pancreatitis and other issues causing his organs to shut down one by one. He was also in a medically induced coma. After 3 months of not knowing if he would make it, he woke up and began his road to recovery. The doctors gave him very little chance of survival...but he just celebrated his birthday last month and he's back to normal!
Miracles DO happen! Don't lose hope!

Kristin, many prayers for you and your dad and family
Back in 1998 my dad had a "minor" operation for a hernia and at some point, his colon was damaged during the operation  He basically went septic and same as your dad, was put in an induced coma so that they could keep him comfortable and fight it with MASSIVE antibiotics.
I so know what you're going through.
Please keep faith, my dad made it back from this, I will pray yours does too

One thing I've learned about Drs is that they always give you the WORST case scenario because they don't want you to turn around and say "you said he was going to be FINE".
I pray your Dad makes a full recovery!!!

We almost lost my mom a few years ago and the doctors called us into a room and told us to prepare.
She ended up getting a blood transfusion, went on dialysis for a bit and made a full recovery.
I also have met more coma survivors than I can count so I do truly believe there is hope.
Don't give up!

Last yr my father was close to resp failure and was nearly put on a vent. I was panicked. I watched him gasping for air like a fish on the beach.stay strong for your dad and stay positive. Prayers
