My Doctor Visit Today - not what I wanted/needed to hear

Well, I went to my OBGYN today for my annual exam and to go over my test results.

My blood work (so far) is normal. No problems with thyroid, prolactin, etc.

But, my HSG didn't have the same results...my right tube is blocked, as in nothing is getting through...nothing at all (which is probably why I had so much pain from the HSG). I had a feeling one tube was blocked when I looked at the monitor during the HSG but I was in so much pain I just looked away.

She also suspects I have endometriosis and a few other things, which I can't remember right now because it's a blur...

I'm having more blood work done on June 21st. Then I have an endometrial biopsy on June 26th (as long as AF doesn't show). She is also sending me to an infertility specialist. I'm waiting for her to call me with that info because the info the receptionist gave me was wrong.

I'm kind of in a daze...I was really hoping for better news with the HSG and not prepared for the endo diagnosis...although I've had a feeling about that for a while now.

Is it bad if it's only 11:30am on a Tuesday and I want to get drunk?

Kathy,

I totally know what you're going thru. Please feel free to FM me. Please check your insurance first if you haven't already. I just called mine and found out they don't have ANY infertility treatments. Good luck.

Re: My Doctor Visit Today - not what I wanted/needed to hear

Oh lord Kathy....

Im so sorry......

Ok..first before anything the GOOD NEWS is you have been getting PG with the chemicals..that means SOOO much.

DID she gto into any explanation about that????

Your progesterone was good??

Ok...Endo- I have a friend who has it badly...multiple surgeries...she tried to get pg 3x and she got it each time within a few months of trying...and at one point her dr was convinced she would need a hysterectomy...She was having bleeding for 10 days of AF each month so bad she was anemic..and I KNOW yours is NOTHING that bad. The specialist helped her each time she decided to get PG.

NOW...what about the blocked tube? What do they do for that? Again, please think of it as something correctlable... IT CAN be....

All of this means maybe not the easiest time getting PG, but it does not at all mean you cant and wont.

Im sorry, I know you must be going nuts with frustration.

Did you write down what she said so you can remember later?

Oh man... So sorry, Kathy. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

You finally got the answers you needed so you can now take the steps to what needs to be done for a successful pg. I know you wanted to hear that everything was completely ok, but it's a good thing that you found out now, because you can take care of it quickly, and still be at the prime age for babies. Keep your head up.. you CAN & WILL get pregnant!

Re: My Doctor Visit Today - not what I wanted/needed to hear

Thanks Girls Chat Icon

Donna - we discussed a lot of stuff, I'm just not clear headed enough to remember/recant it all right now.

I have to call the dr. who did my HSG and get copies of my x-rays. I have to make an appt with the infertility specialist. I have to schedule my blood work too. I also have a lot of research to do on the Internet about my diagnosis...

I feel pretty numb. It's weird.

I know I said this before but since I was little - 12-13 - I always wanted kids but somehow, in my head, I just KNEW it would be really hard (if not impossible) for me to get PG. My Mom said I was crazy and DH said the same...well guess what? I was right on the money with my sixth sense! How the h*ll did I know that when I was that young? Just werid.

ETA: I wanna go home!!!! I don't want to be at work!

Re: My Doctor Visit Today - not what I wanted/needed to hear

Kathy I just logged on and saw your post .. I am SO sorry about all this news, I can only imagine you are feeling numb and overwhelmed and a bundle of emotions ... I dont even know what to say that can possibly make you feel better right NOW (logically I know you KNOW that these things are treatable, but emotionally it just S*CKS Chat Icon)

I was diagnosed with endometriosis last winter and it was removed, and once the endo is removed they say your chances of conceiving are exceptional ... (the only SURE way they can diagnose endo is to have a laparsopcy procedure done, at which point they usually can remove the endo is they see it there)

I'll send you an FM in a few .. I just wanted you to know I am thinking of you!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Oh my god! Really weird! I've always known that it's going to be hard for me to get PG too. I've always had really irregular periods, and I found out last week that I have polycystic ovaries. Good luck with everything. Chat Icon

So funny/sad you say this ... I have ALWAYS felt the exact same way since I was a little girl, and so far it looks like I was right too Chat Icon My grandmother and mom both had trouble conceiveing and since I have very similar gynelogical problems that they do, I always knew I would struggle with infertility as well..

Lucky for us, though, there is SO much more information out there now and SO many ways to go about treating/correcting the infertility issues we are facing, so that DOES give me hope somewhat Chat IconChat Icon

Kathy- I'm so sorry you got that news? But if one tube was blocked how did all those eggs keep getting through for the chemical pregnancies? Was that why maybe things weren't "sticking"? But this IS treatable- you WILL have a baby! I'm so sorry you have to go through this! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I wish I knew what to say too. But maybe now that they know what is wrong, they can fix it.
Im still praying for you.
Who did your gyno refer you to?? What fertility specialist. Yes, make sure your ins. covers. I know I had to get an authorization #.
Best of luck, and keep us posted.
