MRI while pregnant?
Any ones doctor say its ok to get one...I hurt my knee skiing and need an MRI to see how much damaged...just found out I'm pregnant (only 5 weeks) ...checked with my ob about going for the MRI and he said no problem....was nervous about going to begin with...then I get there and the tech refuses because im pregnant and couldn't believe my doctor said it was ok and especially in the first trimester....now I'm second guessing my choice of ob...WWYD?

Re: MRI while pregnant?
I know in my hospital, they won't due MRIs in first trimester unless its an absolute emergency!

Re: MRI while pregnant?
Thanks for your replies...I was very hesitant to go but my ob said I would be fine...very upset with my ob for telling me to go...I'm glad the tech refused to do it

Re: MRI while pregnant?
I had one at 11 wks but it was a serious situation. I had been having gallstone attacks and had a major stone blockage and was on the verge of pancreatitis. I just wasn't allowed to drink the contrast dye. DD is now 18 months and fine so far. But if it's something that can wait, I would wait.

Re: MRI while pregnant?
What facility did you go too? I'm an X-ray tech. MRIs are fine bc there's no radiation. Cat scans and X-rays are a no but still technically can be done if fetus is covered but we try not to do them in first trimester bc the fetus most vulnerable.

Re: MRI while pregnant?
I went to Orlins and Cohen....I had checked with my ob who said it was fine but the tech just absolutely refused...which was fine with me because of a prior loss I don't want to do anything to jeopardize this pregnancy....so I'm just left wondering should my doctor really have oked it

Re: MRI while pregnant?
when I was pregnant with my DD I needed an MRI in my first trimester , but my OB said even though it should be fine she didn't want to risk anything and to wait till the third trimester , but I ended up not getting it in the end.
