mortgage broker situation need advice & very long vent

We have a closing date of 7/31 yes 1 week exactly from today ..
our broker was fine in the beginning a little shady but hey whatever he works with our agent alot we'll deal with him saying "oh just sign all the papers and send them back '' implying no reading of them.. (i dindt do that i work with lots of contracts all day thats a big no no for me)...
last week he tries to raise our rate
this week we dont want to escrow homeowners just our taxes.. takes two days but finally we get a ok you dont have to, and the fee is waived...
(via email, i asked for a confirming fax but he refused giving me tons of excuses.. but we still have his email)
now he's tellling us we MUST escrow homeowners and thers no way out of it..
now he's really on my last nerve, and very unprofessoinal in emails and calls (will call me and dh like 5 times in 30 then finally leave a msg and use tons of ! and Chat Icon in emails

what would you do in this situation?
i personally have a very explosive persoinality so i told dh to deal with the latest thing b/c id tell him to f off and we'd take our business elsewhere...
wouuld you deal with it and give this scum bag your $.... or tell him tahnks but no thanks we don't want ur mortgage and start the whole process over again... and maybe have to find a new house etc
i know its smarter to hold our tongues but ugggggggggg
thanks for letting me vent!

I am sorry you have to deal with this... but at this point, I would just grit your teeth and go through to closing. Once you are cleared to close, you don't have to deal with him anymore.
You don't want to have to start the whole process again.

Not to disagree with you, but I am going through the same thing, and it is not the mortgage broker, but the bank that requires the homeowners $ in escrow. Every bank needs this up front. It sux, but you have to do it. Good luck!

If you walk away at this point, you will probably lose all or a portion of your down payment (perhaps more). I know it stinks, but you are probably better off just biting the bullet and continuing with the transaction (you won't have to deal with the broker after the closing).

if you don't trust him- I would find someone else ASAP

he sounds shady at best- do you have something in writing confirming the rate?

one of the oldest tricks in the book is getting you to the closing and then - whoops the rate it higher!

Agreed. We're here for you though. Hopefully it will work out in the end.

Re: mortgage broker situation need advice & very long vent

we have the rate lock in writing after asking for it for 3 days...via fax w/signtures

we do have the "no escrow and no fee for homeowners" in 'writing' (email-he refused to fax to me citing he wasnt' at the office near a fax)

ideally id like to walk just from the broker and end up closing a month later after finding a new broker... its all very aggrevating i feel like if i sign these papers im being played a fool and taken advantage of
we have to talk to our lawyer tommorrow about what options we have without losing our 15k deposit
uggggg
thanks for ur answers i know i really shoudl just grin and bear it but the thought that im knowingly getting played really gets to me
