MONDAY Wedding?
I got married on Labor Day Monday BUT at noon - not at night. We are Jewish so we would have had a Sunday day wedding, so it's the same thing. It was the only way we could afford the venue (oheka castle). It worked out great - no one even hit traffic going home!

I have been to Weddings on all days, Friday, Sat, & Sun. It never bothered me because the day is not about me. On Friday weddings, I saw that most people didn't make it to the church if it's in the early afternoon. Cocktail hour began late at 7:30 so I guess that works out but a little rushed w traffic. Guests complained about missing the church & having to rush home & back out again into Friday traffic. Sunday weddings I attended, guests complained about waking up for work the next day. If it's going to bother you that much, take full day or half day off then. The real kicker was a Sunday wedding I went to on a holiday weekend, guests complained about plans & activities they "gave up" to go to a holiday weekend wedding even though they were off the next day. You just can't please everybody.
I have never been invited to a Monday wedding but I understand that quite a few people would most likely say no.
Exactly. The bride and groom make the best decision possible for them - you can't please everyone and someone will always find something to complain about.
You are right. And I'm complaining, but mainly only because I have to go and I'm exhausted and going to be even more exhausted as the week goes on. I just think that, as the bride, I would find another way to save that money rather than inconvenience all of my guests.

But you don't know that it is inconveniencing anyone else - you basically want this bride to sacrifice something else for her guests? Didn't you have the wedding you wanted, why shouldn't she?

I do hear you and agree that it's hard when you work all week one way or another.
However the bride & groom don't know or care about everyone's schedule & lifestyles when planning their wedding. Like I said, it's their day, not mine. How about going in a little late tomorrow & maybe making up the time either working through lunch or staying later?
Go and have a nice time but go happily.

MONDAY Wedding?
I went to a Labor Day wedding this year on a Monday...They had a ton of guests and it was a blast. I figure let them do what they can afford and they way they want. At least they included me and I get some free food and drinks lol!!

I'll be there with rings on my fingers and bells on my toes! I'm thrilled for this couple. I just wanted a place to vent a little, and honestly, I was curious as I had NEVER heard of this before. NEVER heard of a Monday wedding.
They BOTH deserve the wedding of their dreams... BUT, I'm VERY old fashioned, and a wedding, to me, is not just about the wants of the bride and groom. DH and I absolutely took into account the needs/capabilities of our family when planning our wedding, wouldn't even look too far east because we knew many family couldn't make that drive.

This! We are Jewish and got married late on a Saturday night. Not till 8:30PM bc the temple wouldn't allow us in before that. Been to many Sunday and Monday (holiday) weddings. Bride and groom will do what's best for them and their family. Hopefully their close friends and other family members can come, but if not then they will respond no. You can't please everyone. For close friends and family I have made arrangements to go like take half day off or traveled, paid a lot for sitters, etc. There's not a wedding we have every day. For special occasions for people we do what we need to do.

Re: MONDAY Wedding?
if the bride is paying the wedding herself, she'll pick a place for the right price. i attended a wedding this past friday at 330. i had to take the day off...i was happy to do that. people could choose to take today and or tomorrow off. when planning a party, you won't be able to please everyone

I would imagine it's because it's now here and it's a regular Monday for her - so yea - she vented and asked if anyone else has ever expeienced a Monday Wedding
I don't see why some people are getting a nasty tone with replies. Either yes or no. Share your experience and move on.
Some just love to
Jess, once you're there, you'll have a great time. Maybe have a coffee right after work to get a second wind.

My brother got married on a Thursday (Veterans Day). I don't think his 300 person wedding was limited by a Thursday night.

I also find it odd that this poster created a new name (see their post count) to ask this question. Drama....

i think labor day or memorial day would've been a better choice. Alot of people work on Columbus Day.. but it's their day!

If you can only afford a "big" wedding on a weird ass day like a Monday or a weekday, the have a smaller wedding. People have to shell out $$ for a gift AND take the day off work? Enough.

Jess I think I saw the bride getting into her limo today! I was driving down Northern Blvd and saw a bride outside of a dress store all done up walking towards her limo. Maybe it was your friend?? She looked beautiful by the way. Hope you have fun tonight!

Exactly. The bride and groom make the best decision possible for them - you can't please everyone and someone will always find something to complain about.

ITA with you. It's so nice that you are being so understanding about it! I hate Monday's so much, and with DH and my work schedules, I'd almost definitely decline a Monday wedding.
And for the record, DH and I both work for huge companies and both had work today.

Re: MONDAY Wedding?
I think its perfectly fine to vent.
Obviously the bride and groom do what works for them but that doesn't mean people can't be annoyed by it, and it doesnt mean they won't go and have a great time.
Weddings are often inconvenient - I hate having to use vacation days to go to weddings. I grumble about it, but I do it because they are people I care about and I want to celebrate with them.

I agree & will never understand this. Unless it's a cultural thing or the date is super significant, I can't get on board with the logic of a weekday wedding.
