Moms who teach

Hello fellow Teachers/Moms,

Are you having a hard time going back to work? My DD is three and I find that going back to work at the end of each summer is NOT getting easier. Eventually I get back into the swing of the school year and deal with it but I am so incredibly sad to leave my little one. I know we are lucky to have summers off but I just want more. I've thought about just staying home but it isn't really an option.

I hope you all have a good year.

Moms who teach

I cry on the way in the 1st week every year. My dd is 3 1/2 and my son will be six months on Wednesday. It is a new way of living and we all have to adjust. By october I am ok but already looking for xmas break hahaha. Even when my kids are in school themselves it will be hard. I can never do my dd's hair for school, never get them on the bus. But being a hs teacher I can be there when they get off the bus. Have to search for the positive right lol

Yes.....it's incredibly difficult for me. My DS is 22 months and last year was awful. This year I am expecting this LO any day but will be starting tomorrow. I will only be home till end of Nov.Then LO will be in daycare full time with his brother. I expect lots of tears once again.

It takes me about a month or so to get in the swing again. I have such mommy guilt about daycare 8-5, but we try to make the most of the weekends.

I haven't yet went back to work but this makes me so sad because I didn't even think of these things... not being able to get them on the bus or drop her off at school and make sure she is OK... not being able to do her hair.. oh boy

My dd is just turning 2, and this is the first year she's going to daycare. It sucks! I'm a mess! I just got a job last year, but family was watching her. This was my first teacher summer vacation, and it is sooo hard going back!!

I already cried last night putting her to bed thinking she might not wake up to me if she sleeps in late! I am blessed that my mom watches her. She is only 1 year but I dread having DH putting her on the bus for her first day of kindergarten. I do though LOVE FACETIME and I will be there virtually!

I feel so sad... I won't be here when she wakes up and won't see her until 5pm Chat Icon I'm blessed that I got to spend all summer with her, but it's still tough. I also won't be able to do her hair, take her to school, or even pick her up... It's a tough pill to swallow but it's the best for us financially. I wish I could be a stay at home mom Chat Icon

Re: Moms who teach

My mom or DH watch my daughter. She is almost 19 months. The thought of leaving her tomorrow breaks my heart. We have our own little routine and I just love spending the day with her. She is such a little person now, not to mention an awesome baby, I get so sad thinking how long I will be gone from her and not having so much time with her at night. Staying home is not an option, but if it were I would do it in a heartbeat. It helps knowing others are in the same boat.

I was hysterical last night. I am going to miss spending time with my DD every day. Singing her the good morning song, running errands with her, putting her down for her nap, playing games, giving hugs and kisses all day long. I love our days together. I am dreading the constant "busyness" that comes with working full time. But it is what it is. I can't stay home. And I do truly love my job. I just love my DD more. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Moms who teach

I am in total denial that I'm going back tomorrow. This is my second school year, so I was hoping it'd be easier. Nope. My older daughter is starting pre-K and she'd be away from me anyway, but definitely for fewer hours. DD2 is 21 months and a total mush, and if I could pack her in my work bag, I would. I am going to miss them both so much...

But I'm trying to focus on the positives: I can pee by myself, eat lunch without someone sitting on my lap, have an adult conversation, feel like genuinely making an impact on my little corner of the world. I'd like to think I'm being a good role model for my daughters, who may want to (or have to) be working mothers themselves someday.

Heres to an easy and successful first day back ladies. I always try to think of that mom who commutes and works long hrs and gets home at 7pm and sees their kid for an hour. We got it good ladies and need to remember that ?

I just try to Focus on the perks Of the job. I have to work and IMO teaching is the best job for moms. When I'm at work I literally go 100% and don't have any time to be sad or lament. I just try to make the bedtif it. Good luck to all :)
