Moms who attend library programs, please come in ...

DS is almost 2 and we attend lots of library-sponsored programs. A local nursery school offers a separation program for 2.5 year olds. I'm wondering if it's worthwhile.

Honestly, we're trying to watch our spending and I'm curious if he will receive more (or as much) stimulation (intellectually and socially).

I think the library classes are GREAT for both building those motor skills (fine and gross between singalong songs, movements and dance, crafts) and socialization.

Personally I would hold off until 3-4 for a nursery/preschool program and keep taking advantage of the free library programs!

You can also go to local surrounding libraries that you do not belong to. As long as they have space, they will let you sign up as a non-resident!

Maybe you can do a separation program doing something else but not a nursery school? Like Saf-t-swim is speration b/c its 1 on 1 with a trainer... Or a dance or Gymnastic program?

IME< you cannot compare library programs with mom, to a class without mom. I think the seperation programs without mom are phenomenal. But if you cannot afford it, I would just do the library programs this year and put DC in a preschool next year.

I think it's great for the kids to go alone. If its not in the budget though, you can wait until 3. I did mommy and me with my son from 10 months until 3, and with my dd we did music and tot class at 2. Both were fine.

Unless there is a need for a seperation program - (you are going back to work, a new baby is on the way etc.) I would hold off until next year. Keep doing what you are doing for socialization and skill building.

Seperation can wait until 3 - 3.6. You never know your DS may surprise you and be fine with seperation by then.
