Thank you so much everyone. I feel so touched and overwelmed by your responses.
I don't know how much of a severence package I'll really get-- it's a very small company. Once I'm gone, there are 7 employees left.
This morning I've also spoken with 2 of my contacts. I have a few more people I can talk to so hopefully something will come of this.
Barb- Thank you for the information. From what you've said, maybe I need to make a HR ? post so that I can get a better feel for what I'm in for. I want to get everything that I'm entitled to and find out what paths I need to pursue to protect my family.

BTDT 3 times in the last 5 years. I know you are dealing with the shock and the uncertainty, but it does get better. Cry, scream get angry if you need to, but don't wallow in it. It might be a blessing in disguise, even though you can't see it now. Make sure you communicate with DH bc it's so easy for each of you to get caught up in the uncertainty of the future.

I am a Reader and Clearance Officer for a title company. With everything that is going on in this market there are very little jobs. I have been talking to my contacts to put out feelers. But it's also very possible that I may have to change careers entirely. (It's really that bad in our industry right now.)
