Re: Mini Cooper...... who has one?

my cousin had one

my uncle drove it one day- and almost crashed b/c other cars couldn't see it- it was sold with in the week

I almost creamed one about 2 months ago- it was in my blind spot- he realized and was able to avoid the accident- and I saw him at the last second

they are cute- but too small- I couldn't imagine driving one on the highway with all the trucks

Re: Mini Cooper...... who has one?

I think they are so cute, but I also have concerns about them being just a little too small. What is the safery rating like? I don';t know anyone who has one. Good Luck!

Maybe you'd be better off with a bug or a PT Cruiser, small but not too small.

My mom got rear ended by one. her bumper had a scratch - the mini cooper's front end fell off pretty much. My dad said it looked like a buch of scrap metal.

Re: Mini Cooper...... who has one?

Too expensive for what they are - DH calls them "Lifestyle cars" - meaning you pay for the idea of the car...

ETA: I think it's silly to think a car is too small to drive because there are too many big trucks around - Long Island needs to stop the obsession with the SUVs and drive smaller cars. Save money on gas! Save the planet!!!

I think they are cute, but too small to be safe, IMO.

I totally agree, most of the world drives small cars and they are not all dead in car crashes! It is a cute car, but everyone I know who has them says that they are tiny and they wish they had gone for something like a Golf or a Polo or even a Fiesta...

They are dead cute though!!!

Re: Mini Cooper...... who has one?

We have one and LOVE it!

I am six feet tall and have no problem fitting in it. It's DH's car and he uses it mainly on the weekends as his "fun car". We have gone on long raod trips in it and have not had any problems.

Yes, it's extremely tiny compared to some of the vehicles out there now, but it does have adequate safety features. DH loves driving it!

If you have any questions, feel free to FM!

i used to work with melissa at this company and i would drive one for work. they are SUPER FAST and the one i had was okay in the snow, but not great. i was never scared on the highways or anything. they're awesome on gas!!!

i loved my mini because it was free. but if i had a choice to buy one or buy a cheaper car that wasnt a mini, i would go cheaper. for the price you pay for a mini, you could get a 3 series bmw!

Re: Mini Cooper...... who has one?

LOL Mack trucks actually run on diesel. Diesel powered cars and trucks generally give better fuel economy than any similar gasoline-powered engine AND they produce less greenhouse gases than gasoline because they're more fuel efficient. Besides, Mack trucks are used for hauling big cargo...though I guess the same could be said about many SUV's...

my post was in refence to them being on the road- I have a fear of driving near them and the dividers- esp all at once

but since you bring it up- Mercedes is introducing a line of cars and SUVs that run on Diesel starting this year- they only cost $1K more then there gas counterparts- and use less fuel- when my lease is up on my current SUV- I would strongly consider getting the Diesel one

Aren't diesel powered cars banned in NYC?

I remember when I bought my car if you wanted diesel you had to buy it and register it in NJ.

Re: Mini Cooper...... who has one?

A) i need a small CITY car
B) i refuse to drive an SUV... i'm about saving the earth, not ruining it for my childrens children

i think its a good city car. dh refuses to drive a bug.

mini's arent THAT small..... its just everyone is used to driving SUV's or MiniVans or big trucks.

minis arent that small, i htink ppl are just more used to HUGE vehicles.
