Mild OHSS
OMG! I had to call the nurse this morning, I had cramping and bloating that was painful. she said I may have mild OHSS and to drink gaterade and to lay down the entire day. My 3 day transfer is scheduled for tomorrow, I am nervous they may cancel it. I hope they don't. Has anyone experienced this before?

Re: Mild OHSS
I had it after a Follistim/IUI cycle. The symptoms were bloating, enlarged ovaries, and fluid around the ovaries. It was very uncomfortable and scary but went away in a few days. I rested and drank a lot of water/gatorade. If it is severe they might cancel a transfer.

Re: Mild OHSS
Yup, I had it. I produced 38 eggs and my ovaries were HUGE. Luckily it didn't go past that for me. They threatened to cancel my day 5 transfer, but by then I was feeling better and it hadn't gotten worse. What they told me to do (and every doctor is different) was to LIMIT my fluid intake, that way your ovaries don't retain the water. And when I did drink, to drink gatorade. I think I was allowed like 1.5L. I also had to monitor my output to make sure I was putting out as much as I was taking in and not majorly retaining. They told me to eat a lot of protein and just take it easy (no lifting or exercise). I pretty much put myself on bedrest so I didn't risk ovarian torsion and they told me I wasn't allowed to go back to work (I have a pretty physical job). In any case, it all worked itself out. I was feeling better a few days after the ET and I did get PG from that cycle so I was lucky in that my symptoms didn't get worse like they threatened. Hope it clears up for you and best of luck with you ET

They thought I too may have been a candidate for OHSS and was told the same thing- to limit fluid intake and keep track of my out-put...Luckily, I escaped it- Good Luck for your ET !!!

Re: Mild OHSS
Thanks for asking about me. Saturday morning was really tough, I was in so much pain. I was off of my feet the entire day and ate chips, drank V8, Gaterade and Smart Water. When I woke up Sunday I felt a little better, at least I could walk around without it hurting. they moved the transfer to Tuesday since the embryos looked good, so that was better for me. I felt like I didn't want anyone to poke around inside because of the pain, but now I feel confident going in tomorrow and getting my baby.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions, they all helped! You guys are the best.

Re: Mild OHSS
I experienced the same thing. I was in so much pain after my ER up until the transfer. Everyday I called the nurses and would ask them what I could do. It hurt to walk and sit. I felt like I was full of gas (which I couldn't pass) sorry if TMI and I was constipated. The nurses kept telling me different things. They all told me to drink gatorade and cambells soup and recommended Philip's milk of magnesia and gas x (neither worked). I had my ER on a Thurs. by Sun. I couldn't take it anymore more and they pushed my transfer off til Tues. so I called my IVF nurse again and she told me to take tylenol. My husband got on the phone and told her I needed to see a doctor. Thank god for DH. He's so good. I thank god for him everyday. Anyway, we went to East Coast fert. plainview office on that Sun. and the doctor said I had mild OHSS but my ovaries looked good. He said he would have my doctor look at my report to determine whether or not I could have my transfer or we would have to wait for next month. I cried!! He then said it was partly due to the large number of eggs they took out. He told me to drink no more than 2Liters of liquids and take dulcalax, that did the trick and by Tues. my transfer I was feeling so much better. Now I am in my 2ww wait which in reality is only 1 week since my transfer. Hopefully this Wed. I will get good news. When I read your post it put me at ease b/c I thought there was something seriously wrong with me. Good Luck and I hope you feel better. It will all work out

Re: Mild OHSS
I go to East Coast as well. Even though I feel better today, I am trying not to do too much around the house. I don't want to compromise anything that would have an effect on tomorrows transfer.
