My friend gave birth this past week and I promised her I would write this.

She and her husband were very satisfied with the service at Mercy Hospital.

I went to visit the same day she delivered. The staff was friendly. I snuck a peek into the rooms as I was going to her room and noticed some had two beds, but there were not many girls in there so everyone got a room to themselves.

My friend's baby was in NICU for 12hr observation bc mom had GD. So she got a room to herself which was tiny but she had everything she needed. There was someone popping inter her room from time to time to talk to her and explain everything from breastfeeding to the menu (which pretty much worked like room service).

On her last day there, both she and her husband were given a steak and lobster dinner as a celebratory meal.

My friend told me that she knows of people going to "better" hospitals and having to "fight for a bed."

Although I do not live near this hospital, it was a good experience to see how this works. I am going to visit the hospital I plan on delivering @ to compare.
