Forgot to ask...if you stayed in new maternity wing of Stony Brook..
....Did anyone stay on the side where you could see where the emergency helicopter was?
DH and I would see people being led in handcuffs constantly, and we finally asked a nurse what was up. She said they have a separate emergency room of sorts for people who were under arrest, etc.
We thought it was interesting.

I did with DS but I never noticed people in handcuffs. Thats pretty interesting

I stayed on that side and there were always cop cars coming up with people being escorted in with handcuffs. I was wondering if it was just random drunks and people high on drugs coming in to get checked out before heading off to jail.

Stony Brook has a psych emergency room which has many patients brought in by pd for evaluation.

I did...but I just thought is was for emergency patients. Never noticed the hand cuffs.

i stayed on that side and actually when i left the hospital with my last DD they led us out through the entrance where they had the cop standing guard. apparently since it was a holiday weekend things were really crazy there.

I did! The helicopter did practice landings about 10 times my first day  but then I didn't see it again for the rest of my stay (but I was only there 2 days).

I heard the helicopter several times while I was there, mostly overnight. I never bothered to get up to look out the window though.

My room was right over the helicopter landing pad, but I never saw anyone in handcuffs. Actually, there were no landings at all when I was there.
