Re: Mercury Free Flu Vaccines
Susan I'm also looking for the mercury free season flu shot and I called the dept of health today. They told me the Half Hallow Hills Library in Dix Hills is giving them out on Nov. 30 between 1:30 and 3pm. I had such a hard time finding a place - everyone was out of the vaccine.

Re: Mercury Free Flu Vaccines
I called Nassau County and they don't have them. Only Swine Flu for people over 60?
The woman I spoke to should be fired.
I called my OB (hopefully i will really need him soon) and they don't have any left right now but the person I spoke to said they may get more in next week. That's fine with me.
I just don't want to get into a crisis situtation if I find out I'm pregnant and then get sick.
Nov 30? I would have to work from home.
eta: I called Walgreens and they are out. Maybe I should call some others.

Suffolk County Board of Health is holding clinics and preggos can receive them. Call: (631) 787-2200. Be prepared to be on hold for about 15 minutes.

Re: Mercury Free Flu Vaccines
Can someone explain why, if there is such a thing as mercury free vaccines, they would ever make any with mercury? Is there a tradeoff? Why wouldn't everyone want the mercury free one? I don't know a lot about this.

Do you have to prove you're pregnant?
Have a script?

From my understanding...mercury for pregnant woman is not good.. that is why we are told to stay away from certain fish as well...also in past studies it was linked to autism in children..so pregnant woman are advised to get shots mercury free.. although the amount of mercury in shots is very very little i personally feel better getting a mercury free shot

From what I've been told its more expensive to produce the mercury free shots, so they produce less of them.

I just went to the clinic in Southold held by the Suffolk County Department of Health this past Thursday. I didn't need anything. I just circled on the form that I was pregnant. They pretty much were giving them to anyone who was there. My mom even went and said that I was pregnant and that she'll be a caregiver a few times a week when the baby is born and they gave it to her. DH got it too.
