I did read that in one of my books. I also read it could cause sperm abnormalities and mobility issues. It didn't say pot specifically, but just drug use in general could cause these things.

DH has low sperm count. He's been following up with the urologist and endocrynologist to correct the underlying reason why there is a low count. But one thing that both MD's made adimently clear to DH is how horrible marijuana is for sperm. I guess if DH's count is good to begin with, it won't make much of a difference ($hit - look how many people got pregos in the 60s! ). But if it's low it makes it worse.

just had this convo with DH... 
on tyra recently there was a sperm doc on who said that when u smoke the sperm are really fast n exert all their energy in the beginning and then wear themselves out before reaching the egg.
u think they stop for cheese fries and ice cream? lol

Oh I actually have some second hand experience with this. . my sister got pregnant using a donor. . but when it was taking a while for her to get preggo they did a sperm count on their donor and he was SUPER low, and had low motility. . they attributed it to pot smoking so he gave it up completely and his count went up TREMENDOUSLY and they got preg on the first try after that. . I think he had to give it up for quite a while though before they went back up to normal. . I want to say it was 3 months. .

this has been a HUGE issue with Dh and I. after going through a miscarriage I feel like he isn't doing enough to ensure that not only do we get pregnant but that it is viable...I told him if there was ANY chance that "bad" sperm could have caused the MC that I want him to quit bc it's not fair for him to not do everything in HIS power to help me not go through that again. I have mentioned it for months and he still smokes and it really breaks my heart. I don't think he understands that every time i see him do it I lose a little more hope each time and I feel so HURT that I don't mean enough to him to quit. It's so unfair that I am healthy and go to GYN regularly and read all the books and use OPK's and mark my calender and all that...and he can't even stop smoking.

Well... you don't want the swimmers hunting for Chee-tos on their way to the egg!
Are there chronic pot heads that father healthy babies? Sure. Is it better for TTC to lay off the ganja? Absolutely. Smoking affects sperm quality and sperm production.

Agreed. It def. doesn't help to smoke but there are im sure thousands of people (men and woman) who smoke pot and have children. I can think of 2 for a fact within my family.
