We have the magnatiles brand.they are great..was going to get a different brand that was a little cheaper to add to his set but saw mixed reviews ontthem so ended up just staying with that brand..I'm sure the others are fine but since we had didn't want to risk it not working well with them since they were still $$

the lakeshore learning sells them and there have been buy something get 50% off something else which i was going to use on these for christmas

I have magnatiles brand.
I have the big set (around $100). This allows a decent amount of building.
I think it's perfect for late 3s & up

We also have the "Magnatiles" brand and LOVE them. They are expensive, but so worth it. We've had them for about a year and they get played with everyday. We started with the 100 piece set for $120. This Christmas they are getting the 48 piece set to go with it. My kids are now 5 & 2years. We also have a book of design ideas. They build all sorts of things and incorporate it into pretend play (a castle for princesses, dinosaur cave, garage for match box cars...)
