in season 1, they show jack on his wedding day with the same girl he operated on
in their wedding vows she calls him her hero because he fixed her
but when he was getting on the plane, he mentioned he wasn't married anymore. They haven't done the back story as to why the marriage dissolved.

The fiance seemed more concerned with the fact he would not perhaps be able to have 'marital relations' with her, and would generally have to take care of her.. i'm guessing he broke up with her..
Also I'm wondering HOW long ago it was that Jack and his ex-wife met.. i.e., how long ago that scene took place in the hospital .. I am curious because I think it is very relevant and would help to try and figure out a timeline ..
for instance, this would help determine how long perhaps that Desmond (Hatch guy) has been on the island.. he met Jack in that Stadium the same time Jack met his ex-wife.. they tried to "date" Jack's look (bad hair, etc) to make it seem like it took place awhile ago.. and Desmond seems to be in a total time warp
I just cannot "get" what that entire Hatch thing is all about!

When Desmond typed execute on the computer, at the beginning of the showlast night he must have been controlling the monster or security system. It fits with the sequence of events.
Locke and the others were chased by the monster before blowing the hatch. At the beginning of the show Desmond types on the computer and then does a bunch of other things that took some time until the hatch was blown up....
I wonder if Desmond is controlling the monster.....

Yes I was wondering what Walt was whispering! what do you guys think of what Locke keeps saying to Jack about how its destiny they are there and the island brought them there? and now the stadium doctor is the guy in the hatch- or like he said he was a doctor!

where does ethan fit into all of this?
Well we might never know, Ethan is "supposedly" dead..
And I'm not quite convinced that Desmond has anything to do with "the others"
And YES that is right, Desmond told Jack he was a doctor in the stadium.. hmm... weird.....
Somehow I have this feeling that as the season progresses, we are going to learn that there is a specific reason why every person was brought to that island, and they are going to see connections from their past that lead them there..
And I wonder if Desmond had more of an impact on Jack's past life than just that one brief meeting in the Stadium.. he immediately knew who Desmond was, but they'd only met for that brief moment in the Stadium? Hmmm.....

I agree Flee....and that this person and the show is taking a much more fatalist view...That they were in fact desinted to all be there...That everything in their lives has happened to have them arrive here...
That "lost" isn't the the fact that they are stranded...But rather they are all there because they have become lost in thier lives...and there are there to find themselves and their purpose

there is obviously a community there...
Obviously they are attracted to the "special" kinda people. They are like super beings..hence the shots that Desmond was taking and the power that Ethan showed...
