Looks like DS needs surgery
How do you do it? How do you watch your child 'go under' anesthesia?
DS's surgery appears inevitable as his testicle is growing even larger and he now has a lump next to it. He goes back to the specialist next Thursday, but we are monitoring him close because it's growing way too fast now. If it turns blue we need to take him to the ER. I am so scared everytime we change his diaper. He started grabbing the exact spot yesterday and just looking at us so sad. I think he knows something is wrong.
His surgery isn't even scheduled yet and I am a wreck over it. I know hernia surgery is minor.
God Bless all of you that have had children with major surgery. You are very strong!

Aww, the poor thing.
I don't know if I could handle my DD having surgery. I guess when you know it *has* to happen, you just do it and stay strong. Personally I have a hard enough time when they do a throat culture or something like that on her!

Honestly you handle it and you stay calm because you have to. He cannot see you upset or else he will know that something is wrong. My ds's last surgery they gave hime something to calm him in pre-op..this was wonderful. When I walked him into the OR he got upset when they put the mask on him but up utnil that point he didnt care at all.
for you-You will remember he won't.

My son had hydraseal. Same thing as yours (I'm assuming). I was a MESS! The surgery isn't what I was dreading, but rather him being put under. Seeing him go under is something I will live with and replay in mind forever. I will not sugarcoat it.

Kel..you will get through it..In Gavins year of life he's been under 2x and both times I thought the same thing, how do you get through it how can you watch it but you do, its almost like super mommy mode takes over...thinking and waiting was much harder then the actual day of!@!!

I send you many, many and because I know how hard this is going to be for you.
My goddaughter was put under at the age of 3 for a tonsilectomy and I stayed with her mom the entire day for support. I think it was harder on the mom than on my godchild, but all went well.

It was really hard to watch but in the back of my mind I kept reasuring myself that it was necessary for him to have the surgery and what could happen if he didnt have it. Those circumstances were so much worse than the 30 secs it took for him to drift off to sleep. Also the fact that he was so little made me feel better that he couldnt remember the ordeal. It will be ok.
