Long term PIO
A little over a week ago RE put me back on PIO because the endometrin was not enough support. I am taking 1cc of PIO on top of the endometrin 3x's a day. At first, the PIO wasn't that bad but now I'm 11 days in and the injection sites are seriously sore. Last night was the worst and the area stung for hours. Not sure if it's a complication from the lovenox which adds to all my bruising. Any advice on what to do? I've tried icing the area and massaging after injections.

Re: Long term PIO
Have you tried heat after the injection? Ice first, injection. Then massage and heat. It helps, but still isn't great. PIO hurt me for 2 months after I stopped it. My butt just HURT! Not that much you can do about it, but if you get a healthy baby at the end, you'll probably forget about it.

Re: Long term PIO
I was having that problem and people on here suggested using heat, not ice (like I was previously doing)! It worked out SO MUCH BETTER! I used a heating pad and heated the area before and sat on it for like 10 mins after.. and massaged it to disperse the oil. I noticed a big difference! Unfortunately I had a loss... but I was anticipating having to use the PIO till 9/10 weeks and didn't think it would be possible!!! I actually went to the dr one day to show them how bruised up I was and ask if there was anywhere else I could do it, it was pretty miserable, so I could absolutely identify!

Re: Long term PIO
Thanks girls I'll try the heating pad. If all goes according to plan I've got 5 weeks more of this but I know the end result is worth it.

Long term PIO
i was on 2cc of PIO until 11w or so. i always iced first and heated for at least a half hour after. for me the ice helped numb the site for the actual injection. the heat after is what helped for less soreness. if i heated for less than 20 minutes i was sore the next day so i tried to do at least a half hour.
soreness is very normal. i was sore and itchy back there for at least a month after i stopped!!

Re: Long term PIO
Soreness will last well after you stop the PIO. I used the heating pad before and after the injection as well as kept the PIO warm. After injection, rub it in to move it around too. When I went for monitoring, I'd ask the nurse to make some "bulls eye" circles for me of where I could inject or what was left of the area. Don't inject into the egg like nodules you feel or where it's overly sore. It sucks but it's well worth it!
