literally EVERYONE has fireworks..
It's insane. Why do people spend money on their own when you can turn in any direction and see them??
The neighbor one house away from me has them going from the backyard. I can't even enjoy them because I'm a paranoid person and it's just making me nervous
Also, I have work tomorrow and I feel like an old person because I'm cranky and want to go to bed in silence, LOL
How is everyone else's neighborhoods?

Horrendous. For the past week. It sounds like Beirut here. It has woken my daughter up every night this week....and she is having sleeping issues lately so it's pissing me off royally. Just noise. Senseless noise disturbance. What does that loud, ear spiltting booms have to do with the 4th? So inconsiderate.

ugh, poor girl!
The last couple of years, I've gone down to a cul-de-sac to watch a show all the neighbors in there would put together. It was fun, but even then, I get so nervous being THAT close. I don't even go to my cousin's BBQ anymore because they always have them and something always ends up shooting sideways or into the trees.
Tonight I had no interest in going out (we saw Disney fireworks last month..can't compare!) and just want the noise to end. I don't mind it here and there, but it really seems like every other house on the block has them. What's the point of them being illegal if the cops don't even stop anyone?

Exactly. They don't enforce shitt so just legalize it, and tax the shittttt out of it. Make it so expensive that maybe people will buy less and it will.fuking end sooner . At this point, it's a noise complaint.

Heck, sometimes they're the ones setting them off! I feel like unless you were concerned that a fire was going to start, they would laugh at you for calling.
It's gotten quiet, so I'm hoping my neighbors are done..

Re: literally EVERYONE has fireworks..
I really don’t understand this. Where do people get these from? Why does everyone (but me) it seems have them?
I grew up in Nj less than 10 mins from PA where they were legal to buy. Sometimes we would have sparklers and little ground rockets. But I never saw the big multi colored professional looking ones growing up. Only at real shows at town park, etc.
So, if these are illegal on Long Island, are people really driving all the way to PA to get them? How are there sooooooo many here? Also, aren’t those big ones like hundreds of dollars each?
I’m really dying to know. It makes no sense to me and drives me nuts.

It’s legal in NJ now, got mine at Walgreens lol. Maybe people went to NJ and that’s why it seems like everyone has them.

Re: literally EVERYONE has fireworks..
We were at a BBQ last Saturday and one of the neighbors was planning a fireworks show in the evening. Fine. But there was no freaking reason to shoot off M-80's every hour starting at 4pm in such close proximity. We literally felt the force of the explosion, never mind not being able to hear for a little while. AZZHAT !

Yeah the M80s are what kills me. How is a massive, earth shaking explosion, in any way shape or form related to the 4th of July?

My hatred for my neighborhood runs deep but I was actually impressed with the asshats this year. It was constant for about 2 hours but then it stopped around 10. Very reasonable. Though DH went out around 9 to run to the store and said they were shooting them off in the middle of Jerusalem Ave which seems pretty dumb to me but I expect nothing less.

They’re legal in my county in upstate NY. A few people around us set them off but it’s not over the top. When I lived on LI, fireworks were always insane. So many people in my block set them off!!

The m-80s were going off at 12:30am this morning.
My poor dog is so scared of them. I gave her a tranquilizer and she still was not having it.
I always feel bad for people who have ptsd.
I don't get the m-80s and now they have the m1000s... What's the glory in it?

We have them and we’re setting them off. My ds loves to see them and I’m not driving to sit in a crowd when I have to work in the morning so we set off 5-10 and it makes my son happy and I even had a neighbor ask if we were doing more cause she was going to come over and watch.

DD wanted to stay up to watch the fireworks in our neighborhood. (For the first 5 years of her life she never know 4th of July existed because she was always asleep by the time they started). So we took her outside to see them and the people directly across the st started setting of m80’s and that was the end of that. She became hysterical and wouldn’t stop crying. I felt so bad for her. DH has to over there and ask them to set them off down the street. She was a mess for over an hour and I was pissed!

I don't enjoy them being set off directly in front of my house and being able to see them through my skylights. However I must admit I love that we can walk a block away and get a 360 degree view of nonstop fireworks and then walk home and go to bed. Between ACs and white noise they don't bother us once we go to sleep.
I will say I have zero desire to be near them being set off. I've seen the consequences more than once.

They were coming from every different direction last night and the neighbors across the street had a big party and sent off big ones for over an hour. My 2 year old sat on the porch and kept saying to me "mommy, I dont like fireworks." I brought her in to the house, tried to convince her that it would stop soon but she clung to me and basically wouldnt let go. i aksed her to put her shoes by the front door....she took my hand to walk her there. They really were EVERYWHERE.

We got home from a friends BBQ around 10 last night and they were still going strong in my neighborhood. My kids were all able to fall asleep right away, we had been out of the house since 10 AM and they were exhausted. However, at 3 AM!! someone started a non stop show again, and all of us bolted out of our beds. My 2 yr old was hysterical crying, it took us forever to get her to go back to sleep. Then she was up by 6:30 this morning and she is miserable and cranky. Last year they did them the night after too, so I am dreading what tonight will bring.

Same here- they started shooting them off at 4pm. When it was still light out. What is the freaking point of that other than to be a nuisance.
And they went on until about 1am. Took me forever to get my DD back to sleep

At 3 am I don't give a fuk if they don't want to enforce the fireworks law, it's a fuking NOISE COMPLAINT. If someone was blasting music at 3am, the cops would be called I am sure. Such horseshit. No consideration for neighbors. The definition of trash

Had one of those M80 bombs go off at like 8:45 AM yesterday. It's horrible. There is no point to those stupid loud bombs. It was awful in my neighborhood all day (and all week).
My poor dog hid in the bathtub all day. Didn't eat or drink.
I always wish it would pour in the evening on the 4th just so fireworks don't happen.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday as it looked really overcast in the evening. But no such luck. But if I were having a pool party, or an outdoor wedding or was on vacation, it would pour like crazy!
