In life which is more worth it to you:
The ride or the destination?

Re: Life Q
I should be more focussed on the ride. But I am always too concerned about the destination.

Re: Life Q
Re-reading your question... I'm wondering what you are really asking because you chose the word "worth".
If your "destination" in life is say to become a veterinarian...the "ride" would be years and years of schooling. Is the ride more worth it in that situation? No, probably not.
However...if your destination is to say, have a baby, well then the ride is also worth it! As long as there aren't infertility issues, in which case, the ride is alot more difficult and the destination is certainly worth it.
I guess what I want to say is even if your destination in life is worth it, you should also try to enjoy the ride to get there as much as possible.

Re: Life Q
I WISH i could concentrate on the ride....but worrying about the destination is always on my mind that I totally lose all joy in the ride.

But yea, I say ride, because the destination isn't always the destination, and often changes along the way.

Re: Life Q
I am not so sure what it meant my the "destination". Isn't that fluid and forever changing until death. At 20 I had one destination, 30 another, I'm sure 40 will be another destination, etc...
So I say the ride.

Re: Life Q
Well, I haven't chosen an easy path, so the ride is a little bumpy right now while working full time and going to school on nights and weekends for my doctorate. If I didn't have my sights set on the destination (finishing and the better jobs that lie ahead), I definitely wouldn't be putting myself through this. I don't think I'm carefree enough to truly enjoy the ride without wondering where it is taking me.

I think, and i am assuming, that there is a point in your life where you are done...I don't mean living and changing but your life has occured in monumental ways (of course that is different for everyone). So imo that is one destination.
But yes there are smaller rides along the way with their ending...
the question is what you make of it really and how you chose to interpret it...

Re: Life Q
I think I am more of a destination person in general. I hate anticipating things. When the ride gets bumpy or chaotic I get nervous of whats going to be. I would rather already know then be surprised. If it was solely smooth sailing, I think I would enjoy it more.
