Let's talk - What about highchairs?

Should I register for one knowing I won't be using it for quite some time?

What have you done? Also, if so - which one did you get?

TIA!

I researched them a lot.... we wanted something that didn't have nooks to get food stuck in, not a trip hazard (most are), looked cute, and was easy to clean.

we chose one made by boon. pricy, but the reviews say it all.... it's much easier to clean and live with than standard chairs.... (also not bad looking either Chat Icon )

I really liked the Fisher Price Aquarium one BUT that whole line is being discontinued and I am not into the Rainforest Motiff so much so I went with a neutral one by Chico

Re: Let's talk - What about highchairs?

We decided to go with a booster only. I plan on EBF and the booster he can use as soon as he can sit up anyway.

Takes up much less space.

I think we're going to end up with a portable one that you can attach to a regular chair. Pro is that it's smaller, but I guess the fact that it takes up another seat is a con.

A friend of ours just gotthis one. It's very cool, but very Chat Icon

they've justified it by saying the child can use it up to 5 years old because it's fully adjustable and comes right up to the table. I have to admit I'm tempted, but, sadly not insane!

I know! But you know $200 for the Boon isn't bad. You could easily spend $120 or more on a regular high chair.

So was mine and it reclines and ROCKS lol

To the OP, I would register for everything that you need for the first year or so (within limits).

Remember that they offer you a % off to purchase the rest of your items on your registry. So to me, it's worth it.

I think I am going to register for this one:

I like that it matches the dining room furniture and it's not crazy $$ like some of these.

is that the Eddie Bauer one or Evenflo?

My son has that one but in the lighter wood. very easy to clean. you just wipe it down (I took the fabric part off because it got annoying having to continuously wash it after each feeding). Chat Icon

Re: Let's talk - What about highchairs?

My SIL has this one and doesn't like it for a few reasons, no wheels, doesn't recline- very straight up and she would prefer cushions that can be wiped as oppossed to having to put in the wash.

I can see her points. With my older DD, I found wheels, recline, height adjustment and washablility were very important.

It is very pretty though.

Re: Let's talk - What about highchairs?

I originally had the Graco wood highchair on my registry. We don't have an eat-in kitchen, and I liked that it would match our furniture.
I switched it for this one, though - it matches the pack n' play and the swing I picked:

Re: Let's talk - What about highchairs?

I originally wasn't going to because we have limited space and like you said, we don't need it right away, but my SILs convinced me to register for it and I'm glad I did. We're storing it at my parents' house until we need it (along with several other things like walker, etc.).

Re: Let's talk - What about highchairs?

I registered for the FP booster also. Our kitchen table is kind of like an island and at bar height, not counter or table height. We thought the booster would be best.
