Lets start the board off with rudest things people have said to you....
concerning you being childless.
Nothing like a good vent of the stupid things people say!
DH's dad told us that we need to have kids, cause "Whose gonna live your life for you--that's what kids are for, you have them and they continue to live your life for you" 
Um--aren't you supposed to live YOUR life--helloooo!? 
Oh and when he realized I'm turning 30 this year he looked at me and said "Omg--you think its OKAY to have a baby after 30?!?!?!?!!!"
He was waiting for me to be embarassed or something, and was quite angry when I said that I knew plenty of people who have babies in their 30's.

I STILL can't stand hearing, "You're young. You'll change your mind" or any variation of that. It makes my blood boil.

we are not currently TTC. we were considering it this year -- but due to health issues that i have right now -- it is not an option for us at this time.
i do enjoy posting on TTC since i know a lot of people who are currently TTC. but for us--just can't happen for awhile. 
however it doesn't mean i don't get upset that for the past 5 years we've received pressure from some friends and mostly DH's family about having a child and such...asking us time and time again about having a baby and such.

I decided in my early 20's that motherhood was not for me. It never really bothered me when someone would ask about having kids - I would just say I decided not to (most of the time in a way that would end the questioning).
I got a few "When you meet the right person, you'll change your mind" remarks. I would reply that the right person for me doesn't want to have children. 
One person I worked with expressed complete shock when I said I didn't want to have children and said she felt sorry for people that don't have children.

"You don't know love until you've loved a child."
I realize that this is probably more a testament to how much they love their children. But when said in response to me stating that we made a conscious decision not to have children, it sounds more like an insult.
If I respond that I love my nieces and nephews, I'm told "It's not the same." Then I feel pitied, and I want none of that.

Greenfreak - I got that same statement from the person at work. I know how it was intended but it sounds like one of those backhanded compliments people make too.

People consider us "single" since we are childless.....no actually we are married.

FH and I aren't married yet, but we already know we don't want kids. One of our family friends told me I was "shelfish" when I told her my reasons for not wanting them.

Oh yeah I heard this one.
Like there is any guarantee your child is going to take care of you when you're old?
Look at all the broken families out there where the kids run off and never speak to their parents again once they get older...

I guess my mama did teach me manners b/c I would NEVER say something rude to anyone who chose a certain lifestyle.
Why on earth would I grill someone for answers? I would be totally uncomfortable doing so b/c clearly it's none of my business. It's not my nature anyway.
So consider me not one of those nosey rude abnoxious people.

This is a good one. I always say that half the money I am 'saving' by not having children will be put towards an assisted living faciilty. They certainly won't complain about changing my diaper.

 That is EXACTLY what I say!!
My Dad said that to me, and keeps telling me the story of his Aunt Ann who was widowed, had no children, and died alone. And that he doesn't want that for me.
Again, that's not a good enough reason to have children.
The last time he said it, I said, "Having children is no guarantee they'll take care of you. I know I putting YOU in a home somewhere if you don't stop with the Aunt Ann story."  We have a really blunt family... can ya tell?
