Re: Leggins for work
On occasion, with a dress, but our office is super casual.
I would not wear to go out and meet a client or their family.
I wear leggings all the time to yoga class, but I STILL wear a long tank that covers my ass.
Some women out there..........they have more self-esteem than I do, that's for sure.

IMO leggins and a shirt that doesn't cover the entire ass are not acceptable public attire.
I always thought this way, but i see so many women (ADULT WOMEN) with leggins, uggs and regular long sleeve tee shirt tops, and they pull it off!!
I think it depends on your figure and your "attitude".
some people can do it!
I agree. I think it's only on here people don't think it's proper cause I work in the city and everyone wears them so clear 90% of the woman in the city think its proper
And I think most times it looks fine

Leggings are not pants.
Word.
Wait! i have a pair that is so thick (From target!), there's no skin that shows through. unlike some that i've seen that are really thin and you can see skin color through... that's gross.
While the thickness IS important, I still stand behind my 'leggings are not pants' comment.
Any article of clothing that shows off a camel toe should not be worn outdoors.
Wearing leggings as a form of tights (ex. under a knee length sweater dress, or something similar) is valid like salad. Exposed hoo-ha/a$$ is not.
I have seen plenty of camel toe on people wearing too tight regular pants. So I think it isn't a what type of pant problem it's a look in the mirror issue

Leggins for work
I have worn them a few times to work. Usually with a dress and knee high boots.

No. Where I work we actually had it written into the dress code.

Nope. Most people never wear shirts that i think are long enough and their ass still hangs out. Also, they become see through and im tired of seeing peoples thongs or hot pink undies.
Regardless of body type. I know people who have sick bodies and wear leggings with a shirt to their waist and I think it looks trashy.
I am a teacher and a lot of my Coworkers wear leggings, i think jeans and a nice top are nicer work attire than leggings.

just because people wear it doesn't mean that it is a good idea. my friends and i have lived in the city for 10+ years and we don't think it's appropriate walking around in public attire (unless you are wearing it to the gym I suppose), much less going to work attire.

Yep-I agree. I have never seen anyone pull this look (leggings and a shirt that doesn't cover the ass) off, regardless of body type. Some inappropriate part is always hanging out/underwear is showing/etc.
It also just looks strange to me since, as was discussed, leggings are not pants.

Re: Leggins for work
To work, only with a sweater dress or something that I would also wear bare-legged in the summer or with tights. Leggings are great in the winter in place of tights. I work in education, very casual setting but also because we work with kids it needs to be appropriate - so I only wear them in place of tights.
On the weekend/out and about I admit to wearing thick leggings with tops sometimes. Not with regular length tops, but with longer shirts that aren't quite dresses I will do it.

Re: Leggins for work
I only ever wear leggings with something that covers my entire tuchus. I love wearing leggings with a long belted sweater and flats or boots. I completely disagree about them not being pants. I think a lot of people look great in leggings, when worn appropriately.
They should NEVER be worn in public with a top that doesn't cover the tuchus.

I wouldn't wear leggings to work, even though the dress code is very laid back.
Exactly this.

Re: Leggins for work
With a hip-length top? No way. Not for work, and not ever.
With a dress that falls a couple of inches above the knee and a nice dress shoe or boots? Sure. Then it's like wearing tights, only thicker.

My friends and I must be in the 10%. I live in Manhattan.
The trend of leggings has definitely died down. Legging are not 'bad' - I just don't think they're a substitute for pants. Running to the corner store or gym? Awesome. Not covering your butt and working in an office? Eh.

in education, we often wear leggings but with a longer top or sweater dress plus boots and jewelry. i can't imagine anyone wearing a top that doesn't cover her rear to work in a school or offices!
This exactly.
I think it really depends how dressy and professional the outfit you're wearing over the leggings is.

I only wear leggings with a dress of tunic length top that COMPLETELY covers my butt.
I am not in a workplace environment, FTR. I am a SAHM.
Same here and even at that, I try and find the leggings with back pockets lol that makes me feel a little better... And where I work its business casual... But for the kind of place the OP describes, no, not good.
