Left Overs/Doggie Bags
I read on webmd.com's list of eating no-no's while pregnant and they said you shouldn't ever take leftovers home from a restaurant.
They said even a short ride in a car home could contaminate the food.
I have never heard of this before and it seems a bit overboard.
Do you bring home and reheat leftovers for another meal? I never finish restaurant meals and now that sandwiches aren't a lunch option, I want to use leftovers.
Should I worry about my 1 hour commute to work? I bring my lunch in an insulated bag and put it in the fridge as soon as I arrive.

That sounds a bit extreme to me I personally don't plan on following that advice.

Re: Left Overs/Doggie Bags
Oh pish posh!! DH and I LIVE on left overs. I'm not cooking nearly as much b/c I'm so tired. When we go out, I count on the leftovers for another meal. And, I don't always heat them up.. pizza, wings, etc.
So I guess according to their recommendation take out and delivery are both out too??

Re: Left Overs/Doggie Bags
that one i probably wouldnt follow. i am careful around bbqs and parties where food is left out for a long time, but leftovers are okay i think. for some totally weird reason i am totally turned off of any type of leftover now, even if i made it myself. but i totally wouldnt worry. enjoy!

Re: Left Overs/Doggie Bags
I'm super paranoid about this, and was before I was even pregnant, so I know a little about it.
You don't want your food out and near room temperature for more than 2 hours. So if you're at a restaurant and the food arrives at your table at 7pm, you want it cooled to refrigerator temperature by 9pm. As long as your commute to work is under 2 hours, and the food is going from fridge to fridge, you're safe.
What's not good is going to a backyard bbq, for instance, and eating a piece of grilled chicken that has been sitting on a table for 3 hours. Or taking home leftovers from a restaurant, going to a movie, and then putting them in the fridge 4 hours after they originally came out of the oven.
