Organic stuff is NOT regulated by the FDA, anyone can say that something is organic and they are required to prove it to the Government or the consumer. Sad but True.

Thats not true, it is not regulated by the FDA but is regulated/certified by the USDA (US Dept of Agriculture)

This makes me furious!! These companies are making it impossible for parents to make good choices for our children. Its organic, but yet it contains lead....how is that even possible?!?! So much for the good old FDA or whoever regulates this stuff. This is BS, I am piszed.

I am paranoid about this stuff but I have to say, DD has had a lot of some of those things (gerber juice, gerber pears, motts juice, etc, all for constipation).
I had her lead levels checked at 12 mths (normal) and then again at 18 mths (this was my choice. b/c I am paranoid about living in an old house). 18 mths her level was also normal, both times ZERO. So even though reading that alarms me, it doesn't surprise me at all and I don't think it's likely a big issue based on my DDs blood results.
JMO...don't know what I plan to do from now on though.

AIR has lead in it....from your next door neighbor scraping that 1920s paint off his house...and the dust getting into the air. So she can't have air either.

The problem is what is safe today might not be tomorrow - I think the key is moderation. I try not to use too much of ANY ONE thing. I switch bottled waters all the time, try to buy different brands of things - make things fresh as much as possible. This way IF anything isn't good then we haven't been using it exclusively.

That's a great point. I will try that too!!!
It IS a great point.....but LEAD??????? Lead has been a known danger for a LONG time....to me there is just NO excuse for lead to be in ANYTHING.......this is shameful.
But I DO like your idea!

also, i think it's important to note that it says ONE or more samples.... so they are on that list if even ONE of thousands of samples had it. i am not saying it's good that it's in there at all, but i don't think it's as bad as it seems.
