Ladies... Does it bother you when...
.. someone addresses something to you alone and on the card/letter it is worded as
"Mrs. Joe Smith"
as though you have no identity but just that you are only an extension of your DH and not your own individual self?
I can see "Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith" - that's formal but to address something leaving out your first name entirely?

I've never received a card just for me addressed that way. but if I did, yes - it would bother me.

Yes, because I didn't take DH's name. If they address it this way, it means they really don't know what my correct name is. It doesn't bother me that much, but it is clear to me who in my life knows me well and respects my choices when I see the mail 
This is a HUGE pet peeve of one of my friends. She doesn't even like "Mr. & Mrs. John Smith" since she thinks her name should be included on that as well.

It doesn't bother me, but I have a friend who is getting married and I know it bothers her. So I will make sure when they get married to put their actual names on envelopes instead of "Mr. and Mrs. *****."

Nah. It takes a lot more than that to bother me. 
I think people do it to sound fancy or formal.
And my identity is muddied anyway. I am Rob's wife, Robbie's mom, Noah's mom, Thunder's mom, Steven's aunt, Jessica's cousin, etc.. It's all good.

It doesn't bother me in the least. Technically, that's the proper way to address an envelope to a married or widowed woman...

Funny this post came up. Just last week I received something from my cousin addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith. It really pi$$e$ me off b/c has stated in the past that she knows I kept my last name but it's just easier to address things to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith. To me, that just shows a total lack of respect towards me. Maybe it's silly but it really bothers me. It doesn't bother me when someone who doesn't know I kept my last name addresses it to Mr. and Mrs.
