Kiosk salespeople at the mall

I'm at the mall today when one of those annoying kiosk people tries to stop me

Now I know some people do stop and listen to their schtick (sp? LoL) about whatever they're selling... and I know some people just blatantly ignore them. Yes, they are annoying, but I think that's a bit rude.

So This guy tries to stop me and I didn't even realize until afterward that he was trying to hand me some small sample of what he was selling (I think it was some Dead Sea skin products).. but had I even taken it anyway you know he would have seriously followed me trying to tell me about it.

So I smile and say "no thank you" just like I do to all the kiosk salespeople.

He get's in my DS's face (he's in the stroller) and goes "Oh... why does your sister be so tough with me?" In this ridiculous babyish sad voice.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Then he mutters as I walk away "I'll get you later".. which I later noticed he said to everyone who ignored him or said no.

Ummm.. no.. you will not get me later.. later I will swerve my stroller around your booth in a desperate attempt to avoid you WEIRDO.. LoL

He called me DS's SISTER!!! Yes I am a young mom, but sister? Chat Icon

my dd has found that if you stay within 3 feet of the stores they will not bother you. it seems they will only go so far away from their kiosk to harass people. we call this the no fly zone.

So funny Chat Icon

They usually get me when I'm crossing to go to a store on the other side. I'll have to map out my route more carefully in the future.

I also find it funny that they have no discretion. I will be on the phone/ chasing DS as he runs away from me.. and they still try to stop me.

Re: Kiosk salespeople at the mall

I am usually very polite when they come up to me and always reply with "no thank you" but one time i was in Roosevelt Field shopping with my mom and one of those guys selling some type of skin product actually grabbed my hand Chat Icon Well boy did they do that to the wrong person. I was NOT polite at all and gave him a piece of my mind. I thought my mom was going to pass out she was so mortified but seriously that is so inappropriate.

Re: Kiosk salespeople at the mall

Wow.... PLEASE fill out a complaint form or call the mall's management office! That guy is probabl breaking his lease and the mall manager should know about it. I work for a mall and our tenants are not allowed to call out to you or approach you unless you verbally acknowledge interest or approach their kiosk first. If you are just walking by, they aren't supposed to call out to you and getting in your son's face is harassment!!!

Whatever mall it was probably has rules like this too (or maybe it was my mall!). I urge you to report it!

I actually enjoy talking to them b/c I formulate skin care products...I like playing dumb and asking questions to see what bullsh*t answer they come up with. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Since my husband knows sign language he usually starts signing to me. The people that work at the kiosks don't know what to do with that one, so they back off. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Oh my god.. it was Smithhaven Mall.. and if they're not supposed to approach you then almost every single kiosk person in that mall is breaking the rules, with the excpeption of maybe the jewelry and sunglasses people.

So funny.. because I now have short hair (between chin and shoulder length).. I always get the lady with the fake hair approaching me saying I "need" extentions

I JUST cut my hair like this.. I don't think I'll be buying extensions any time soon

Re: Kiosk salespeople at the mall

When they open up with "May I ask you a question?", it is best to respond with "No."

I don't like when people speak to me.

Re: Kiosk salespeople at the mall

I don't like the question thing either!!!

My friend got me a Dead Sea face mask that she brought home from Israel. It really is amazing but it's definitely not the same stuff that the mall Kiosks have. Maybe I can bring mine there and show him that it does not work the same!!!! He can't run away from his own booth, can he?

Re: Kiosk salespeople at the mall

Ugh, these people aggravate me beyond belief. If I'm interested in your product then I'll approach you, otherwise just leave me alone.

"Can I ask you a question?" I'll simply respond "No you can't" or "You just did" and keep walking.

This is what I do too. Or else I say "you just did" and keep walking. They don't usually get that one.

I used to try to be polite, but now I don't care if I am rude. I am tired of being harassed because I need to get one or two things at the mall.

I have straight hair and one of the ladies with the hair straightner actually came up to me and asked if I wanted it straighter. Seriously, my hair is pin straight. She must have been desperate.

I also got suckered into having my one nail actually polished with this buffer. She was trying so hard to get my $40 but I said no after the whole thing. I had one buff nail though.
