Just Got Back From The Dr.

He's pretty sure I have PCOS and is sending me to an RE. He said they'll probably put me on Clomid.

you really can't get PCOS under control, but the good news is, is that PCOS is the easiest to treat for TTC.

I also have to Chat Icon Chat Icon your doctor for sending you to an RE instead of just prescribing you clomid. An RE will monitor you very closely on Clomid (as it should be), most OBs do not do this and it's very important you are monitored on the meds.

FM me if you have any questions.

I don't know. I just had to google PCOS because I didn't even know what it meant. I'm going to call the RE tomorrow before work and make an appointment.

PCOS is an acronym for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom. There are varying degrees for PCOS. The only way to truly diagnose PCOS is through bloodwork and a sonogram. One of the more typical signs of it, would be what they call a "string of pearls" on the ovaries... lots of small cysts. In my case, I never had any cysts, but my hormone levels indicated PCOS as well as other physical charactoristics. The first thing an RE will do is a full bloodwork up and sonogram (and probably a sperm analysis for your DH, just to rule out other issues).

Re: Just Got Back From The Dr.

i am so sorry to hear this!!!

PCOS is actually an insulin/pancreas issue... which then causes the cysts. Clomid will help you conceive, but will not treat the PCOS. Please feel free to FM as PCOS was something that the doc thought i had, but bloodwork and other tests proved otherwise.

That's not entirely true. Many women who have PCOS do not have insulin issues. I know this to be true because I do have PCOS, but do not have any issues with insulin.

Re: Just Got Back From The Dr.

Chat Icon I too have PCOS all my ob/gyn's always said I didn't have PCOS I was just not ovulating regularly but since I wasn't TTC I never thought much about it but I always kind of thought that I had it. I am not insulin resistant and when we officially started TTC I went straight to an RE I didn't want to waste any time w/ my ob/gyn. From what my RE has told me and all the research I have done PCOS is one of the easiest fertility issues to treat.

FM me if you have any questions. I am currently in my TWW from my first IUI w/ clomid.

Best of Luck and HOpe you get your BFP soon

-Jess

I'm sorry to hear that Jeri Chat Icon I agree with the pp's. I think that seeing an RE is a great idea...they can help you to continue treatment of it even when you're not ttc anymore (after your BFP of course!). Best of luck to you & your dh!
