Did another quick layout... I like the idea of the toilet being where the tub is now and in it's own little room. But not sure about the rest of it:

the only issue I think you might have is your moving the toliet far from where it was. the plumbing might be costly on that, whereas the other layout kept it really close.

I like both layouts though

I really like ur 2nd layout. Yet, we have a seperate room for the toilet and love it. Instead of the 1/2 wall make it a full wall with a door.

What about making the linen closet where the sink is now and putting the double vanity where the tub is now? You would leave the toliet as is or maybe can build another wall and make it seperate?

Moving the sinks to the tub area would allow you room for a bigger shower. All of the necessities are basically already plummed.

Where the sink is across from the walk-in - can you just lose that and make that whole area a linen closet?

thats what I would do - less cost for you guys, especially since you wont be there forever - and I dont think the sink does anything in that spot

I agree about keeping the tub for resale value. I know you don't use the tub, but I would never buy a house without a tub in the master bath, even if there was a bath in another bathroom. I am a bath person.

Thanks for all your input... since we're trying to keep cost down we'll probably do what you guys said and keep the toilet where it is. So it would just be adding a double sink where the tub is and enlarging the shower.

This is what we talked about last night. Make that whole sink area that's outside the bathroom a linen closet... it would add so much storage which we need! And add the sink where the tub is.

Chat Icon Hopefully (with a capital H!) this will be our next project. We NEED a closet system in the walk-in also though, you should see it... it's really embarassing what our closet looks like. Those are the 2 things at the top of our list for 2010 but I think the bathroom will be first.

Especially b/c we thought we killed all the black mold in the shower when we moved in (chisled it out, treated it, re-grouted, etc) but it's been slowly coming back with a vengence, no matter how much I clean. Chat Icon

Color scheme, I have no clue honestly. The bathroom doesn't have a window so nothing too dark, I was thinking maybe the same color as our foyer b/c I love it so much and it would go with the slate blue in our bedroom. But not 100% sure yet.

I'll keep you updated! Chat Icon

ETA with the large shower, what about adding 2 shower heads? I always say that I want a second shower head when we move into our place so we can shower together without fightiing for the hot waterChat Icon

I guess there must be a problem behind the tile. It's probably a good thing you are redoing the whole bathroom then. GL!

I love closet systems, especially in a walk-in. I'm sure you will love it when you are done.

I love that color in your foyer and it would look really nice with your room. Maybe some nice slate blue tiles and browns. Chat Icon I love blue & browns. Chat Icon Well can't wait to see what you come up with.Chat Icon

Not sure the size of the large shower, however we have a really big shower and inside against the back wall is the jacuzzi tub and right in the front is the shower.

If it's an option for you and you want a picture let me know.
