Does anyone know...
if you go to the doctors office and they tell you that you they want you to go to the hospital to be admitted, do you have to go through the Emergency Room to be admitted?
Or is there another way to be admitted?
Is that protocol? Or is that only how some hospitals work?

It depends on why they are going to be admitted. If its something that can be life threatening, then they have to go through the ER to make sure that they are stable enough to go to a regular room. It really sucks that she might have to wait for a long time to get a room, that is the worst part, and its not just good sam, its everywhere that has that problem. I believe there are some cases where a direct admission is possible, but not for blood clots in the legs, that is too dangerous.
