Jacket closet space for guests

I have a decent size hall jacket closet, but the problem is its filled. Between all mine, DH's and the boys I can't believe how much they add up. I like keeping them downstairs for easy access. Even the down vests I like hanging.

I feel like there's no more space for when people come over. Obviously if there's a lot of people they go in the extra bedroom, but one family it's not easy.
I did just move my dressy jacket upstairs with my dresses that I hardly wear. That's the only one I can think of that doesn't need to be downstairs.

I move our coats out when we are going to have company. Then I put our stuff back in when company leaves. I have room for about 4 coats besides ours on a regular basis so I don't always have to move ours.

What about an over the door hook thing or one you can screw into the door with pegs?

If I have big crowd jackets go on the guest room bed.

Have coat hooks near the front door. We use them for our curent jacket, or wet things, but when people come over we put our stuff away & they can use the hooks.

We also have room for about 4-5 jackets in the coat closet. Ours is deep though, and has a double rod, so we put less frequently used things in the back. ( It's just two of though.)

I would use the coats you use the most and put them by the garage entrance and then leave half of the foyer closet for guests.

No hangers there. Only shelves and it's full with outside pool stuff, cleaning stuff and crap. Lol
Think I'll just move some coats out of there. I forget b.c we don't use it till it gets cold
